I can't believe the box of 5 I ordered were in the same size box as 1 set I just got today. The mint must have worked out one heck of a deal with UPS to get these shipped. I insured a set of five for $2k and it still cost $55, next day UPS has to be $100 if you or I mailed it that way. I can't just bring myself to open one of these. I mean the potential loss by just opening the box is so high, so its either grade or sell it to me. I picked grade it, so I guess in about a month i'll see if that was a good move.

The UPS price for individual shippers like us would have been around $90 to ship a single set via next day air saver and around $150 for five sets. The mint saves a lot by being self insured, being a bulk customer, and in this case by using a common box. It still costs them more than the $4.95 we are charged, that money probably goes straight to PBGS with the mint picking up the actual shipping costs out of their margin. Remember, the mint really isn't supposed to make a profit, they are only supposed to make sure that they never go in the red.

Hey everyone, I'm not sure how selling works on this site but I would be willing to offer my two sets to CCF members for $750 each. Would anyone be interested?

This seems to be getting crazy.

We all know there is a difference in opinion on slabs and labels. But I think we all know what the answers are now.

If you want the label "25th Anniversary set" you have to send in the sealed box to PCGS or NGC.

It looks like there is "not" going to be a "S" on the label for the bullion coin.
- some don't like that
- some don't care.
But there is nothing that can be done about it now.

There are some people that pay more for labels, most collectors would not. But most would not mind selling for more if they have the chance.

There are only two unique coins in this set. For the other three coins the mint just shipped from their stock to a central location. Those 3 coins are no different then all the rest made this year.

Do I think that bullion coin is the same as all the others ...yes. But if it has a label saying it is part of the 25th Anniversary set then it will trade for more, "if" it was slabbed at a TPG that requires sealed boxes. With the "25th Anniversary set" on the label, it will trade for the same weather it has the "S" or not, it will trade for more because it is part of the set.

In my opinion there are coins at TPGs being switched, from coins sent from the same customer, to make a higher grade set. If I sent in 5 or more sets .. I would want them to do that.

In the future, you will see many collectors putting their own sets together. There will be OGP holders with no coins, sold on ebay. There will be collectors buying single MS/PF 70 slabbed coins putting together their own sets.

Wait until the Chinese start making their fake versions ..

My order 38360XXX was just delivered. I've got another single set on order 38369XXX that should be here shortly (not shipped yet - but in stock and reserved). That one I plan to keep sealed and sit on. But I've also considered selling it to make my keeper set free. And I've also considered sending it to NGC. It would be nice to have an OGP set AND a graded set, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

In opening this one I noticed a small rattle which kinda told me that one of the coins (only sounded like one) was out of its slot. And it was. The S mint Unc (far right) was loose but still inside its capsule (phew!). No big deal, I just set it back in place. No need for pics, you know what it looks like!

This is a really nice looking set and, yes, heavy. All the coins look fine (no problems) after a cursory look, and the case is awesome. The reverse proof is gorgeous! I'm glad I got in on the ground floor on this one. And I do think it's quite possible that this set will be a bit more scarce in OGP since so many will be slabbed, and there's only 100,000 to go around in the first place.

And, slightly off this topic, I also received my Lincoln Coin and Chronicles set today (Awesome set!) that I completely missed the boat on. Got it from Mint Products for $130 (no affiliation). I felt a lot better about that price than the prospect of the going street prices on the 25th ASE set!

So far, it's a happy day!

Yesterday I found out the mint was shipping my set. I was all happy to get to see the set in person today. So I get home today expecting to see the set and all I had was a sticker saying no one answered the door. The two people at my house said they did not hear the door bell. Now I have to wait another day.

Has anyone else noticed that opened 5 coin set prices realized have been creeping up? All weekend and through yesterday the average selling price was about $735, now today they are in the $750 range and moving towards $800. I would have thought the price had stabilized at $735, but seems I am wrong

glad to see we are at 38360XXX shipping. its getting closer to my 38388xxx. I ordered 2 I would be just happy with one to add to my collection. at this point I wouldn't even care about making a fortune off the other set like everyone else wants to do. I just want one. I made one offer on ebay and they guy countered at 2 cents difference than asking price of 800$. I will do without a set before I hand someone $500 for getting lucky on a phone call. good new maybe? I did get this email yesterday. kinda weird. the dash was top of email. titled

That's an untrue generalization; I bought one set, an xmas present for my son. From looking at the many threads related to the 25th anniv set, I'd say a lot of folks bought sets as collectors, not just for profit.

I will admit, I bought five, so I could sell two and afford to keep the other three. Otherwise it was out of my budget to buy any

My plan was to buy 2 and sell 1 for whatever it brought. Anything over retail cost was just that much less I payed for my set. Kind of like a discount. That's what I did with the 1/10th ounce gold buffalo, Bought 2 sold 1, and basically payed $75 for mine. Not bad deal and didn't make a fortune either. Wish I would have waited a while longer to sell that one though.

I wanted one, was compelled my greed to buy five. After seeing that I could realize a $2K profit I was forced to sell. I am just glad my friend hooked me up with a sixth that I shipped to NGC today. I just hope I can at least get an MS 69 set.

I have one opened set and two sets boxed up sitting to ship to NGC tomorrow.
There are two more sets sitting on a UPS truck that I'll have tomorrow.
I'm thinking I'll just tuck those two away in the safe unopened. What a
roller coaster his has been.

unholyroller, I noticed the same trend on ebay. I think that now many people are aware that they're orders will not be fulfilled and are turning to the secondary market. This could be good news for us who want to sell $$$
