Looks like "MAE" to me, but somehow I'm having trouble finding out which particular mint this was. If its a rare one, I have the opportunity to get this coin at around $150 Canadian. Deal or no deal?

You asked if $150 Canadian is a good price.

I would say it is a bit high - but not so high that I would reject the coin.

The key here is the coin original. In my opinion based on just the two dies - I see NO problems. The coin looks real.

I would check the weight closely and look at the rim to see if it is properly applied and has two OVERLAPS opposite one another.

I'm currently in Malaysia where bargaining is the norm, so I could probably get it for 65% of that price (seems to be what most of the coin-sellers here will go for). How much should it weigh?

The coin should weigh about 26.8 grams at a minimum.

I personally would pass on the coin. I do not like the look of the reverse with "Plus Ultra" being very pronounced (usually the highest point on the coin and first to wear) yet the crown completely void of any detail. I also do not like the look of the fields in front of Carlos face leading into "DEI" looking worn or mushy yet the clasp on his shoulder sharp and detailed, once again usually the first thing to wear. Personal opinion. The coin lacks eye appeal. Additional trivial point, this style coin is referred to as a Bust or Portrait dollar, not a pillar dollar.

I agree on jfransch on that one, I wouldn't play with it.
I find the details mushy some way, for example the letters and crown seem round on their top, the crown misses details for some reasons, while the castle and plus ultra under it are clear (maybe too clear)

The coin could be fine though, but a close examination would help a lot.
The lima mint is not known for its regularity.

Here are two coins to compare (from a seller having genuine stuffs, but selling them of a nice premium), one of them have similar details as yours (few details on the crown) :
