That sure looks like the real McCoy.
Very nice find.
There seem to be a lot of the FR2 1916 SLQ turning up.

From what I could remember of the diagnostics, I think you have the real deal. I am sure johnny54321 will be able to say for sure. BTW, where did you find that coin Moe?

Not an expert, just a fan of the SLQ.
I think the only distinguishable characteristic of a 1916 left on that coin is the arm drapery extending past the stars indicating a 1916.
Go Luck on the 1916!

I don't think it could be any higher than AG3.
The coin is a little rough it might be a details coin.

Not that I remember which is which, but I think the shape of the gown (beside the foot) is one of the die markers, one is more oval shaped (where the gown bunches at the bottom). Then as other members have said the drapery, the location of the head to the rim, and the hair.
I would like to jump right in and say it is a 1916 ( I think it is) but I am waiting for Johnny and Nod to offer their input

From what little I know, and pictures I have ( Red Book), the eagle beak at the "A" says it's a '16

PlumCrazy: can you elaborate on the beak differences from a '16 to a '17? I have not heard of anything distinguishing on the reverse until now.

I highly recommend the Red Book. Information from the 63rd edition, page 168. I would post a scan but that would violate their copyright. The eagle is lower in the '16. The photos in the book show this and you can see the relative difference if you look at the eagle's beak and tail. Due to the wear on this topic's specimen, the beak is easier to see in my opinion. ...Then I looked closer and actually read the book data. I get your point. Certainly not enough information in the book to tell . Like I said, I don't know much about them.
