The 1920 MoJJ 8 Reales in my date set was a very poor strike so I was happy to locate this very well struck example for an upgrade. All opinions welcome.

I'm digging the details and die rust on this one. Interesting color. I don't usually see the coin completely brown like this.

The scanner I use messes with the color sometimes, too much reflection off the coin. This one is actually a very sweet pale grey with golden toning in the legends. Totally original surface as far as I can tell. I purchased another 1810MoTH from the same source, it has the same beautiful light grey color.

Pretty piece... Nice crusty color with a lot of underlying luster. As you alluded to, those 1815-21 Mexico City 8R can have really crappy and/or soft strikes... I have an XF to XF+ with luster of this period where there is barely any wreath showing. This one is about as good a strike as you'll find - only softness is in the very middle of the reverse. A bit of old toned-over scruff in the fields is probably exaggerated in the scan. Do you grade as UNC in hand? It appears to be such... either that or as close as you can get.

What a beautiful Ferdin VII. I am pretty sure it is even awesome in actual. It is a worthy upgrade.
