I pulled this one from a bunch of dateless Nickels I bought a while back.
1921 it is for sure but is it an S? there would appear to be something raised between the Five and Cents that could be a mint mark.
What do you think S or no S.
What would you grade the coin as and what would be its approximate value in today's market?
Thank you for your time.

The upper left side of the mintmark appears to have the loop of an S.

Thanks guys I'm fairly certain its a mint mark as the metal is raised to almost the same as the text. If there was no mint mark then I would expect the field between the text to be lower. As there were no D mint coins in 1921 for the Nickels. Ergo it has to be an S. I know zip about Buffalo nickels so I want to be sure I don't misrepresent the coin. Are there any other markers on the S mint coin that can be used for identification?
Also Does it fall some where between AG3 and G4?

No question on the date being 1921. I see something poking up on the reverse where a mint makr would be and you are correct, there is no D, so this must be an S. It's just not a real clear S. I would say G4, because the date is clear, though the rims do merge some with the lettering, so a strict grading company might give it an AG3

Might the scratches prevent a TPG from giving it a grade and call it AG Details damaged?

Anacs would grade it but list the damage. It is however not cost effective to send such a low grade coin to them.

Almost certain it's an "S".

It kinda hard to tell, but it sure looks like one. Maybe another angle?

Has the coin been acid dated/vinegar soaked? The obverse looks funny - especially around the date.
