I'm waiting for the postman to bring me this one. We just have the seller's pic to work with. The 3rd picture ... is one taken without all of the intense lighting. The brightly lit images are bound to elicit the cry "It's been cleaned". Chance

My best guess is VF35.
Nice Indian.

Nice coin! VF-35 would seem to be about right.

VF20 details. The surfaces just don't look original in the first 2 pics, the third one does make it look much better, but still, looks like an old cleaning and retoned. Also, a lot of marks, possible some corrosion. Still has nice details though.

Agree with David, definitely looks cleaned. BUT, I would take it!

The seller had that holder labeled "VG".
I'm pulling a little bit of a "sneaky Pete" here, and I posted this elsewhere on the forum. I know that not everybody reads every forum, just because we've different areas of interest.
This may be my best pickup ever.

Technically I agree that's a VF. If it was marked down to VG for the cleaning that's a pretty rough mark-down. It's rather attractive and a very good (pun notwithstanding) pickup at VG-money.

I've got to call it VF-20 too.

I did decide recently to put a set of Indian Heads together, just because I've always liked them. I probably even spent a few when I was real young. I'm still not convinced that it's been cleaned. The reason for my saying that ... is because of the trouble I have photographing copper. All of this guy's indian heads have this appearance. There are a whole bunch of them too. He's selling lots of 20 rolls, so apparently he ran into a stash somewhere. People are fond of thinking tht if there's dirt around the devices, that it must be the result of cleaning, and I'm not so sold on that theory. Circulated coins that have been stored for long periods frequently have crud around the edges. Anyway ... Here's the payoff.... I talked to Rick Snow this morning and am sending this coin to him as soon as it gets here. He agrees that it stands a very good chance of being the coveted overdate. Look at this picture. I used a transparency taken from a certifiable Snow-1 and superimposed it over the date on my coin ... and the date lines up favorably. Chance

Judging by the picture of the coin in the holder, I would say looks original. Good luck. I hope you have a Snow-1! I can't tell from these pictures but the Cud is there.

Thanks .. Obviously I'm hopeful too. I was floored by the minimum I'll get for it if it's the real deal. I won't publish the figure, but it's substantially beyond what I figured it would be worth.

I think this one's around VF25. Hard to say if cleaned from this pic, but I might expect some more crud in the devices. Of course, if this is a Snow-1, the cleaning is really immaterial. PCGS has slabbed far worse coins as problem-free.

I asked Rick about erhaps using some acetone to wash away anything that might be easily washed away, and he said he'd think it better to do nothing until after he sees it, so it will go to him as it is.
I figured out how to use my loupe in conjunction with my el cheapo Kodak digital camera, so I'll post some clear pics of the date when the coin arrives. It coulf get here tomorrow, but monday or tuesday is probably a more reasonable expectation. The seller marked them as "shipped" yesterday, so tomorrow is not outside the realm of reality.

The coins both arrived this morning, and I can't make an overdate out of it. There's so much crud around the legends and devices that if it was there, and was light .. I'd never be able to make it out. The Cud shows up in the pictures every time, but I can't see it with my loupe. I'm seein' ghosts perhaps. I think we can put that "been cleaned" thing to bed though. You guys are seein' ghosts too. The current market attitude toward cleaned coins has got everybody so spooked that everything looks "cleaned". The one thing these coins have going for them, is they are original. On a brighter note, the 1934 Washington DDO I bought for 9 bucks arrived. It's the DDO. Chance

Big talk and I don't believe it's justified. Cleaning in so far as it relates to making a coin noncollectable is a market term. And those top two pictures of that coin do make it look like a classic cleaned and retoned coin. Take it easy.
