Just had to tell this to someone. I just came from the bank. While cashing some checks I asked the teller if they had any old dollars or 50 cent coins and to my surprise she told me and elderly lady was in a couple days ago and cashed some in. I got 45 silver dollars and 60 silver fifty cent pieces for face value. Gotta love it.

I got half a dozen 1967 centenial quarters like that a couple of weeks ago.
I make a point to ask whenever I go into the bank, you just never know do you.
Congrats timnic44, way to go..

You'd be surprised how many of your local banks have Nickel Dollars and Fifty-cent pieces laying around.

Not to mention they are so happy to get rid of them (since they must count them every night before closing their vaults). I'm fortunate enough to have a job that keeps me going to banks, literally 4-5 times a day. They all know what I'm looking for and I manage to pull in anywhere from 10-15 Nickel dollars a week, as well as a good handful of fifty-cent pieces.

Happy hunting.

These kind of stories make me envious, especially because my bank gives me kind of a hard time just getting penny rolls.....

Are you posting this result on more than one forum? I talked to someone last night at my coin club and they mentioned this post. I thought how strange. I asked her if she collected Canadian and she does not. So, then I really started to wonder if there is any truth to this story or if it's fiction.
