Congrats! FEC's are my favorite style of cent, so I'm determined to get a coin like that someday. That is a jewel in anyone's collection.

Amazing aquisition. One of my favorite coins that I'll probably never own. Glad we know someone who does.

Wonderful Johnnie!
So, forgive me, does S-9 make it a proof or bizz strike?

Ok, so I got this extremely cool digital microscope today. My dad used to use it for stamps, so my mom let me have it. It works SOO well on coins, great for inspecting any coin closely on your computer screen, especially for miniscule errors and such. Since I don't have any of those type of coins, I used it on my 1856 flyer. I got a closeup of the date, and I also got the centering "dot" on the inside serif of the "N" on the reverse, circled. This basically identifies this as a SNOW-9.

Seriously though, this is the neatest thing I've ever used to inspect coins, and it's very easy to use. I remember my dad showing it to me about 4 months ago, and I scoured the internet to find one with no results. It is made by a German company Leuchtturm, and he bought it at a stamp show.
