I just found this a few minutes ago. I have found a lot of doubled columns, but if this is one I have never seen anything like it. It looks as if there is a full circle around Lincoln. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance. Sorry about the lighting of the pics, it's the best I can do.

No telling what it is, but I have seen these before. They are scarce but they are not doubled dies.

The infamous circles. Much has been said over in LCR forum about the oddity and these circles have also been encountered on the obverse as well. I have seen semi circles also on the reverse die. There is no firm conclusion as to the cause or where they originate from in the die making or the use of that die.

Could it be a DD with a loose Hub? Not sure if thats the proper terms but lets say it was a DD and also the die had some movement couldn't it produce this?

The reason it not a doubled die is that it isn't a part of the hubbing design. The only conclussion I would have would be a deep lathe marks that didn't get polished out before the hubbimg started on the die. Interesting, but not a doubled die.
