A long time ago , I got myself five proof sets (the ones with blue cardboard dust jackets) from ebay. The dates are 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972. The earlier ones, 68 and 69 has some toning in 1c and 5c coins, which is not that unattractive at all. If I was to keep just one set from this lot, which one would I keep, what's your opinions?
Thanks

I'd keep either the 68 or 69 set as the Kennedy halves in them have 40% silver. Other than that, all 5 are in the $8 - $12 range so it's no big shakes which way you go.
One thing to check - if the dime on the 1968 set has no mint mark, it's worth a lot more money - like thousands more, so check that out before you get rid of it.

Okiepb, thanks for your advice, I got them years before at about that prices from a single seller. I'll go upstairs and check the mintmark on the 1968 set, however, I do not think I am that lucky. :)
Toning is considered natural for those sets I guess, yes?

The 1970 proof set also has a 40% half and has some no "s" dimes. The 1970 holds a slight premium over the 1968 and 1969. The 1971 is about worth face value.

As long as your checking mint marks check for the 1971 no "S" Jefferson nickel.

If none of the coins are the ones missing mint marks. I might look to see if any of the
68, 69 or 70 coins have a deep cameo apperance.

If none of your coins have the above, I would look to see if any of the sets have a negative.
For example spots or ugly tone. If all were equal .. I would lean to the 1970 set ..

If you need the money, sell whatever you don't want, can't use, don't need. However, if you don't need the money, just keep them all. Some day you'll be glad you did. Hopefully.

As said, all being equal, the 1970 set.
