Walking Liberty half in a lower grade Being in a lower grade, you need not worry about it being bashed about in your pocket. A beautiful design that may appeal to someone who knows nothing about coins. You never know, you may be able attract a beginner to the hobby of coin collecting with such a coin !

I would go for a Britannia. The reverse on them is stunning and I would love to see what a circulated one would look like.

I will prob go with a UK bullion I love the reverse. I have alot of personal connections to Mexico and Canada but I dont really like the design changes for the libertad and the queens potrait is kinda depressing.
Im not a fan of the queens potrait but I guess her crowned is better then the canadian version that makes her look like just a normal grandmother. I used to like libertads but I dont really like the reverse with the evolution of the seal and the newer front.
The only other one I thought about was the armanian noah ark. I was worried it wouldnt wear well with the low relief.

I say pop for something substantial Uncle Bertensgrad. Get a 5 oz. ASE. You'll know when that's in your pocket. No risk of accidentally spending it. You might need a sewing kit however to stitch up your pocket from time to time.

I'm assuming you meant ATB Quarter? If so, that's a neat idea as well. You even get to pick your design.

Does your family or heritage include any non-U.S. country?
If so, that would be a great pick with a story.

Bert, You could try to obtain an older Maple Leaf with younger effigies on them, 1980s and 1990s. I personally like the 1990s effigy above the others if I had a gun to my head. Possibly go for an old Kookaburra. Obviously I love the old Libertad coins, which is why I don't carry them in my pockets.

Bertensgrad - I'm curious as to your pocket piece criteria. Do you have a minimal silver fineness requirement? A couple of the coins in my current rotation are down to 50% (1983 Canadian Edmonton silver dollar, which is my birth year piece, and a 1942 Geo. VI Half Crown). My other current ones are my 2013 ASE (daughter's birth year), and a 1926-S Peace dollar. I like higher fineness coins myself, however the US silver offering for 1983 consists of only the LA Olympics silver dollar; I have one that I got from a dealer's junk commemorative dollars box, and I hate the discus thrower design. Had been toting an 1883-O Morgan for some time, but I retired it since it did nothing but bring me bad luck! I'm thinking of picking up a 2015 dated coin to commemorate my son's birth. Thinking of doing a Libertad for him. Thought also of doing a 2015 US Marshall's commemorative dollar, but I don't want to pay the premium for something that's going to ride around in my pocket and wear down. Also - what's your preference as far as a circulating silver coin (so, hence, something older) vs. NCLT/commems vs. bullion?

The big thing was it needed to be a 2017 dated silver coin. I decided that the one that pleased me the most is Australian Kangeroo, the queen has a normal crowned profile portrait and the security lines gives it great detail and texture. His mother spent a few months in australia so she approves haha. I have alot of personal ties ro Mexico and Canada. Maybe by the next child the bullion coins will be slightly different. I'm hoping she waits 5 years for the next one. Im not fond of the canadian 1/4 turn potrait style at all. Its why I hate some Presidential dollars.
