I received my two tonight. Haven't been able to closely examine them in the low evening light here, but one of them is missing the COA. Anyone have this happen to them before (who am I kidding... of COURSE someone has had this happen to them before) and if so, what did you do? Just return the one missing the COA for an exchange? Seems like a lot of hassle for a piece of paper, especially if the coin is good.

Call the shipping center (Monday, I would guess) and they should be able to direct you appropriately. If they seem to "not get it" though, I would go with "return for exchange of defective product" and take it from there.

I previously promised to test the 2016 ASE as to how snugly it fits into an album, well it turns out that the only ASE album I have is a Littleton one that does not rely on a snug fit to hold the coins and is in fact deliberately somewhat loose. It has stiff plastic sheets that slide in to hold the coins in place. Maybe someone who owns a snug-fit album can perform an experiment and provide the results for us all. Still waiting for those last two TBDs on the mint's product schedule (the UNC ASE & the UNC dollar set) to become determined. Time is running out.

OK, I'm mad. I just weighed my 5 2016 proof ASEs. They range from 31.21g to 31.31g for an average of 31.28g. Of course I'm kidding about being mad, the US Government through the mint guarantees that each ASE contains at least 1 Troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, and they seem (at least in my very small sample) to be honoring that guarantee. The two five ounce coins that I have out of storage right now come in even higher, at 31.32g/oz & 31.37g/oz. My gold coins are another story, but still meet the minimum weight test. My 2009 UHRDE is 31.13, my 2015 $100 Liberty is 31.10 (so it is slightly low by 0.001g, but this is a smaller amount than what my scale can measure and there is always the fact that no matter how accurate the underlying measurement is, there is a +/-1 possibility of error in the last digit of any digital display), my 2016 1/4 Toz Standing Liberty quarter weighs 7.79g (*4 = 31.16g/oz). The average ounce of gold (again in my small sample) comes in at 31.12g. I suppose it makes sense that the tolerances for gold are tighter, just because of the costs involved. The higher average for silver makes sense because it allows for looser tolerances which probably reduces costs more than the extra silver increases them.

Eh... still 2+ months. My question is, how long will they be available into 2017 (or beyond)? I know they have to be minted in 2016, but they can be sold for as long as there's stock, correct?

Oh, and by the way, I'm (somewhat) happy to report that I found the missing COA on my ASE proof. When I pulled the packing slip out of the box, the COA was under the packing slip. It never occurred to me to check the box because the OGP was closed. COA is slightly rumpled due to its exposure outside the OGP but not in terrible shape. That will be the one I spring for my CAPS album.

Quote: My question is, how long will they be available into 2017 ( I was thinking the same thing earlier. If they consider the 30th Annie ASE's as commems then they have to end sales on 12/31. This would make a VERY short season for the MS version. I'm sure they will say they are regular issue but even then they have to all be minted by 12/31. IF not we might have "all in" potential This year's Dollar set could be a winner also...

They are almost certainly already minting them (if they really plan to sell them). After all we know that they are already minting the gold Walking Liberty half dollar, and were well before they announced a release date for them. Hopefully a release date for the UNC ASE will be posted soon, probably when they have enough inventory at the fulfillment center to meet what they see as initial demand.

While we wait for a date on the 2016 UNC ASE, let's take a trip down memory lane. For starters, the 2006 20th Anniversary set. The coins have begun to tone slightly despite being in their original capsules and spending almost all of the past 10 years in the dark confines of the safe.

Great set and the one that kicked off the ASE boxed set "craze". I'm still surprised they didn't follow suit for the 30th anniversary.

Yup...kinda lame to just have 30th Annie on the rim....would have been cool to have a 30th embossed on the coin itself and multiple versions of that
Stuff on the rim just doesn't cut it...
