Quote:Does anyone know exactly what happens if ebay pulls one of your auctions? Nothing much....unless you repeat the effort...They will send you a nice email stating their revised policy on these ASE's and warn you not to do it again...

this is just insane, it makes me think people are just bidding and the sellers will not get the money http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-2011-AMER...em35b66ab135 I understand its 5 sets but its still over a thousand dollars over what the sets cost from the mint

I wonder what happens when the folks selling these on ebay don't get their sets from the mint.

Quote:I wonder what happens when the folks selling these on ebay don't get their sets from the mint. I am guessing they will have to give a refund, that is why ebay is trying to crack down on these sales I believe because the seller will have about 20 days after the auction ends to spend the money (not counting it takes 24 days after auction ends to even open a case and like 8 days after that before you can escalate it to get ebay to make a decision) and if the seller doesn't have a bank account attached to their paypal account there is no way for them to recoup their money, so ebay would have to come out of pocket for their buyer protection on each set that falls into this category. This may be why some people are allowed to sell these sets on ebay and others are getting pulled, the ones that have attached bank accounts to their paypal account are allowed to sell and the ones that do not are getting pulled. Of course this is just a theory and I don't know if this is the case or not since I haven't tried to sell any of these sets to see if mine would go through or not without being pulled, but if the ones that were pulled will let us know if they have a Bank account attached to their paypal account and the ones that are still selling without problems will do the same we will know if this has anything to do with the success of the sales

Perhaps he meant to sell one set instead of 5 which is how I read it as well.

From his auction description: Quote: For sale is 5 sets of 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver 5 Coin Sets (A25) I think he just took a bath.

I think these sets will eventually settle down to the $500-$600 dollar range. Unfortunately for me, this might not happen for a year or two.

If I don't get mine from the mint (which I got my order placed within the first 10 minutes) I will not get any because I just can't see me paying that much for the set when I know they were worth 300.00 a couple months before. It looked good when I was giving Christmas presents that had tripled in value with the 20th ann. set but I only paid what they were worth at the mint, not what they were worth on the secondary market

Wow on that ebay auction, that person is either going to have to lose considerable money, decline to honor the auction once they figure out their mistake and take a negative feedback on their rating, or perhaps they are a scammer and never ordered or intended to ship anything any way. They will just dissappear with that $1k.

But there is no buyer information. Was it a BIN? Bet he listed it as a fixed price by accident, OOPS!

Maybe it would be interesting if we break down the value of this set, by each coin. For example 2011 W Proof Current mint price $58.95 2011 W uncirculated (burnished) Current mint price $50.95 2011 bullion coin/no mint mark $40.00 ($5 over silver melt price) These 3 coins should be around $149.90 Now the last two, what would be a fair way to determine what their price should be. Would it be fair to say that both of the last two coins would be worth more than the 2006 25th reverse proof coin? Numismedia price guide shows a price of $234.00 for grade PR 69. That coins has a mintage of just under 250,000. I think the two unique coins in this set, with a mintage of 100,00, would have to be worth at least $250+ each. 2011 P reverse proof (Mintage 100,000) $250+ 2011 S uncirculated/burnished (mintage 100,000) $250+ These numbers are why I think the price will settle in the $650+ range for the set, I would not be surprised if it is closer to $700. Of course the price of silver could have a impact of the first 3 coins, and the overall set price. I just now did a ebay search of 2006 20th ASE sets. They are trading at a wide range of prices. One sealed box has 6 bids and is over $600, with most of the raw sets more in the mid $300 range.

kena, why would they not get their items? If you got a confirmation email, you got the item. The ONLY way you wont get what you ordered is if a) you got on the waiting list or b) you messed up somehow and ended up ordering more than 5 to the same address, as some here did when placing multiple orders. Its that simple. The 5 for 999...thats a big oops. LOL Rushing to place the add and not paying attention. I think the sets will go for 700ish raw as a round about number. For 69 sets, 800-900 and over a grand for 70 sets. Bryan, you know a 57 Chevy only went for a couple grand originally. You cant touch a nice one (nice meaning needing less than 10% restoration) for under 20 grand. Unless the guy that sold those 5 sets is selling the Chevy.

I think it will be interesting to see if/when HSN sells these sets. I would not be surprised if they do a one-day "special" for $999. Who knows, it could be even higher than that. Not a true value though.
And for fantasy, do you think the mint will do a 30th anniversary set with a 50,000 mintage limit and 3 unique coins to the set?
