Susanlynn, thank you for the info. The info web site of the event would also be nice to pass on to all members. I know one thing. It can be real hot and humid that time of year. So to do the tourist thing, be prepared.

Great video indeed Bobby ;-) My wife and I do plan on doing the tourist thing and know how humid it can get. Gettysburg, Independence Hall, Mint, are just a few of our plans. We live in California, and have only been to a handful of States back East, PA will be our first time! We have a photoalbum of us by 27 State signs so far. Kind if like collecting the State Quarters! Looking forward to seeing you all :-)

Well, you'll be able to add Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey to this list in the space of one hour. This place can be insanely hot in the summer. It's subjectively sometimes as hot a place as I've ever lived, and I can count Texas and Georgia on that list.

Thanks for the heads up Dave. We were in Vermont ;-), a few years back, the Green Mountain area, but that was October. I sort of know what humidity is like as we frequent Arkansas quite often in spring/summer. We will add those States! We have Maine, Vermont, New York, and NH. Speaking of hot, where we live in California, Summer temps can hit 115 easy but, we don't have the humidity. I was once in Death Valley, Ca. when it was 127 degrees. Feels like a furnace when you put your hand out the window while driving!

Hello,
Has any formal discussion surfaced relating to the possibility of having a CCF-provided keynote speaker(s) for a brief but extremely informative presentation lasting no more than two (2) hours at this event?
One might consider just one (1) or several of the top ten (10) numismatic discussions on CCF over the past year for possible candidates to justify bringing in a nationally recognized and respected authority(ies) on the matter(s).
Then the chosen authority(ies) could promote his/her product or services for FREE (instead of paying them a speaking fee) at this event while CCF simultaneously charges $ 9.50 per attendee(paid for in advance) or just settle for donations which oftentimes bring in more revenue.
I am just brainstorming with you guys (and gals) on methods to increase interest in CCF while helping the cause financially etc.
Obviously, this event would have to be broadcast out well in advance of the beginning of the show so the available lead time is quickly diminishing.
It might be prudent to contemplate sending out a broadcast survey to the members asking what subjects interest them the most and enough to motivate them to cough up some ‘moulah' to the cause: either by mandatory entrance fees or via donations.
I really feel that if this issue is handled correctly and in an expeditious manner, both CCF and its interested members could benefit tremendously financially.
One final note to consider when finalizing upon the chosen subject matter(s) would be to settle upon a subject(s) that can either preferably INCREASE or likewise prevent from decreasing the available $s in one's pocket.
To elicit some examples from a somewhat similar area just as in past and soon-to-be prevalent Nov. political elections the population inevitably ends up 'voting their pocketbook' in a majority of the examples.
In summary, it's sad to have to state the above fact but times are tough right now especially with rising gas prices which inevitably raise the cost of everything else.
We (CCF) must be innovative, creative, and quick-to-act in how we approach this subject matter if we wish to take advantage of a great opportunity to build upon...
Let me know your thoughts.

For the CCF members who are not ANA members, I just saw where the ANA is having a membership special at the Philadelphia show where you can buy a basic membership to the ANA for $18 (a $10 discount)and get all ANA benefits plus get the online version of the Numismatist magazine. Then you are an ANA member and you get into the show free. I think this would be a better buy than just paying the $6 to get into the show.

Since I took sort of a "sabbatical" from coins the last few months, I'm just seeing this thread for the first time. I am on vacation the week of the ANA convention; might have to take the trip up to Philly from Central Kentucky!

Folks lets not forget that Mum and Dad have had to cover the cost of a table. I'm sure hitting the donate button and becoming a supporter would be appreciated. Or even running a donation auction or two.

I just found out that I'll be in Bridgeport, WV for a radio club convention (different city each year) I've attended every year since 1988, so that clinches it - I'm planning on making it to the ANA show! In between I also plan to stop at my Original USA Ancestor's home in St. Mary's, MD, where the colonial legislature met in the late 1600's, or so 'tis said. I may stay at the convention hotel or a cheaper hotel in, say, Wilmington, but I definitely could help out with the table or whatever as needed. I'll keep an eye on this thread for further developments. I can also help with table expenses (hence, the cheap motel, lol).
