Saturday I did my usual "banking" There are two branches of the same major bank I try to hit every few weeks, they are 10-15 miles apart. The tellers know me by site and always save cents for me. But what is strange they both said I have a lot of pennines for you and they are old
One branch had $32 the other had $54 I didn't think much about them other than the wrappers were old looking and faded. Well when I got home a few hours later I looked closer, on the $32 buy many of the rolls said "50 all 1945" or 57 or 58 or 41 etc. Total 44 rolls solid wheats. on the other buy I opened all and found 200 wheats. But then I decided to run the memorials through my ryedale coin sorter. Probably 52-53% coppers.
breakdown $86 = 65% copper
$24 wheats $32 coppers $30 zinc

I picked up a box on a whim last night. Found about the usual percentages of copper and wheats, but also came across a 1911 wheatie (my oldest penny so far found in rolls), and 2 1970-S cents in BU condition. Unfortunately they werent the good sized date but they still look nice.

A friend of mine recently moved to a rural part of Texas and I asked her to send me some half rolls from her local banks. I inspected them and found absolutely nothing worth keeping. There was no silver, no proofs, and most of the coins looked like they had been ridden hard (note the cowboy metaphor!). I'm guessing that in that part of Texas half dollars actually circulate. Maybe that's why the silver has all been picked out. It was a different story here in town yesterday. Out of $140 worth of halves from two banks I found 20 silver-clads and 1 1964-D coin. Kinda makes up for the Texas debacle......

I recently got 3 boxes of cents from the bank, and by the way this is/was the first time I have ever checked threw "rolls", 150 to be exact. Altogether I found 26 wheat cents, oldest being 1929, 12 canadian cents, and 1,430 bronze cents. I also found a 1994 unplated "zinc" cent, and also 2 1988 cents with small die breaks on the date. Can somone tell me if these were some good finds.

Finally finished my first two boxes: one of pennies and one of nickels. Between the two of them, I barely got anything worth mentioning. No wheaties or anything like that. Did get a 39 nickel and a 93 proof all dinged up. I had found what I thought was a DDO nickel, but lost it when I laid it ?somewhere? long enough to get a 2x2 for it. I went through everything on my desk twice and cannot find it. Sometime this week I'll take some of the coins back and look forwrad to my next boxes. Hope they yield more interesting stuff than these two.

a 93 proof is definately worth mentioning lol, proof nickels are very difficult to find in circulation ive gone through at least 25 boxes between last year and this year and have only found one. My estimate is that they show up every 30 boxes or so.

Here's another recent find, this time from a Bank of America. Heavy wear, rim damage, a few scratches, but still a keeper!

Went to the bank on Friday night, I arrived at the bank about 5 minutes before it closed. After my transactions I asked for $10.00 in cents, but the vault was closed any they only had 3 rolls of cents outside the vault.
1 1947 cent 80 pre-1982 69 post 1982
Not a bad percentage, I only wish they had more. I was unable to go to the bank on Saturday. There is always next week.

Got my 2nd box o' pennies on thursday and got through half of it with a nice find...2000 Wide AM! This would be my 2nd. Are these the more common wide AMs? I know the good one is 99. And I have yet to find a wheatie! Wish me luck on the remaining rolls!

Hit several banks today, looking for halves. Scored quite a few silver clads and several 1964 P&D coins. It was definitely a Good Friday!
