Quote: If a new volume dealer comes along and places a subscription order for a thousand proof SAEs, it will fall in behind my one and four piece subscriptions and if it places an online order it will be fulfilled behind small orders placed before it. There is simply no special treatment being doled out. Theres not a chance that order would be placed at the back of the line. You wouldnt do that over the computer anyway for an order that large and the mint can say they dont give special treatment all they want. They can and do give their massive suppliers special treatment.

Everyone who believes that the mint follows their own policies and treats everyone the same can't provide any proof that they are right. Let's leave the debate alone...please.

Mach1, agreed. We all have our opinions and we now know what they are so discussion over.
wif99, that is a reasonable policy if you can afford to do it. Since there is nothing keeping you from opening these sets, you can do (to a lesser extent) what some of us have accused volume buyers of doing in the past. You can, for instance, mix and match to get the best eight sets and return the worst four. Honestly, I don't have any problem with this set because the coins are individually encapsulated so you don't need to handle the coins directly. What I think that some volume buyers have done in the past is open multi-coin lenses and do the mix/match/return thing. I have a problem with this because the coins are handled directly and because the lenses contents are modified. The relatively new 7 day return policy has put a significant damper on this practice (at least I hope it has). Anyway, when we are paying this much for coins, we should always return true problem coins. For me, that is any coin with a gross flaw (unless of course it is enough to become an error of value) or one that in my opinion grades below MS/PR68. I expect MS/PR69 coins and accept 68s and 70s (of course).
I would still like to see the mint put little pieces of hologram tape on lenses and capsules so we could tell if they had ever been opened. Heck, such a thing could even identify the provenance of a coin in a capsule so we could open our mint packaging without compromising set integrity.

Partially because I honestly don't know if you can truly examine a coin completely for flaws when it is encapsulated, but mostly because I like to photograph my purchases for posterity and need them out of the capsules to do it properly.

Hmm, is it my computer or does the website seem suspiciously slow this morning? Usually it zips by with my 4G connection. Wonder what is up.
Edit: I was just teasing. Finally the page itself came up, took twenty minutes to complete the order for two sets. You know, with an order window of four weeks, people will still jam the site so they can be first in line to order. Crazy, but I figured since I was gonna look anyway, might as well order now as I will get them sooner or later.

Ordered five sets after flailing about with their on again/off again progress through the ordering process online. Site says sets will be available for shipping on 27 July.... A$$uming they will wait to ding credit card until fulfillment date also... Who knows how this latest "offering" will affect the ASE's in general and the RP's in specific? I DID go ahead and build two 25th 70 sets and one 69 set just in case. Also doing one each of the 20th sets. Hope my heirs appreciate the effort!

Quote: 12 sets ordered at 12:05 12 sets?!?Are you buying these as gifts, or do you honestly believe these will make good investments down the line? I bought five of the 25th anniversary set, but only because (a) the mintage was limited and (b) the premium wasn't that high compared to the regular proof coins. With these, I just don't know...
