TEACH, Thx for the effort, I am glad you like the coins, I just got off the phone with the mint's CS and was told the 9-28 date was just a guesstimate, they are shipping them out as We spoke!!!!!!!

I had to take the picture in the direction of the least clutter and blur the background to keep from looking like a total slob. I telecommute to work from this "office" and keep a small corner relatively clean to allow me to work efficently. My coins typically only spend a day or two here before going on display in the entryway for a week or so and then off to the safe for long term storage.

For those who were interested in getting this set in NGC retro holders, SilverTowne is selling the PF70 set for $300. That's $150 discount over white holders with ER. The PF69 retro set is $10 more than regular ER. Maybe they are getting better results with later coins.

Got the Silvertowne email too and am real tempted to get a couple, but the NGC 70's outnumber the PCGS 70's by over 3 to 1. NGC ER sets seem to be going for just over 300 on ebay so whether this is a bargain or not might depend on the holder itself. But I do love the black holders, just wish I knew what quantity NGC has in mind when they say they'll be available in limited quantities.

Probably limited to the number of people who order them...

My order for 2 sets from the Mint placed right before the cutoff still shows estimated shipping date of 9/28 and no pending charge on my card, but the cancel box disappeared today. Going to take that as a sign that it'll be shipped soon. I'm hoping the faster they can complete the outstanding orders, the faster they'll provide final mintage numbers.

It's definitely on the coin, I've given it plenty of eye time before posting.

Thanks! That'll be very helpful in getting them back together. Nice rig!

I'll bust them open and use my lens brush to clean. There's some fuzz in one of them so it's gotta get done. It'll be a few days but I'll bring them out to the deck and get some decent pictures.

Cheers!

That's pretty much the case with almost any modern coin. NGC simply grades more coins and nearly always has higher rate of 70 grades.

My question would be, does NGC grade so many more due to popularity/quality or due to
the fact that folks thing NGC grades a little easier? Or are the just a little less expensive
for grading? Okay so there were a few questions there..

There price is about the same, both require a membership although there is a way to send to NGC if youre an ANA member without the 40 dollar fee. They dont grade THAT many more than PCGS, but there is a better shot of getting 70s with them for modern coins so people will send in more to them wanting to get the 70. Conversely that does mean that if they do get it itll sell for less but its still worth more than a PCGS 69

I just opened 6 sets from the 9/28 ship date.
All 6 proofs had scrapes on the left hand holding the bouqet. Not just pin holes of light shining through.
The reverse proofs had 3 that might get a 70.
Time to send all back. They must be rejects from the first batch.

Quite a difference from the 8 sets I received from the first ship date. 2 out of 3 came back 70s from NGC.
Not this time.

I would enjoy seeing the grading results from the same coin , graded by both or all 3 of the top tier grading companies, That should be interesting.... I know some people, or companies, grade or consider certain factors while grading a coin, While others would NOT deduct from the sheldon scale, for the same " reasons "........

I ordered 2 sets with an expected ship date of 9/28. Well they were delivered on 9/28, right on target, which would have made the perfect birthday present, but no one was there to sign for them. So I got them today. I see a couple pin holes of shiny in the frosted parts but very minor. Does this affect the grade? I am sure that mine would be in the second batch. The mint was right on target. Since I have no intention on sending them to be graded (I love them the way they are, in OGP), I am happy with all of them.
