Has anyone heard whether Dansco is offering a new page for this album? Or maybe a follow on album? The current 8166 ends with the 2012 P & D. No opening for the proofs.

got this info from http://www.danscoalbumstore.com

"Since this album currently ends with 2012-D. Dansco will be issuing a continuation album by the end of this year. I do not expect them to make an 8166 page 9 since the album is too heavy as it already is. Please feel free to email us using the "Ask a Question" button below to be added to our list to be notified once we have more details on this item."

so, it should be coming soon I would hope?

I agree, it needs to be another album.

For what it is worth, I already have two albums. My original 8166, purchased in 1984, only had four pages. Since it has the 5/8" binder, adding a fifth page was not possible. So, I started a new four page album with blank Half Dollar pages. Those two albums are hefty on their own, I could not imagine how all eight in one binder would feel, or even hold up.

I currently have the extra page in my proof album. I actually just completed this album this week except for the 2012 clad proof, just find 2012 p and d in a box today., 95% from circulation and trades with crh finds.

IV got the 2012 silver proof in the extra page.

I was wondering about that myself as I am close to finishing this one. Definitely cant add a page. Every time I lift this book I darn near pop a hernia. As I dont see them getting away from Kennedy on the coin, its going to be an ongoing thing like the other coins. They also need to do another Jefferson album as that one really doesn't have room for another page either.

Yeah, thats pretty much a rip off. They should just start the album where the other left off.

I too think this album will be split up. The only question is which year will they end it? As talkcoin mentioned, the Jefferson album started over at 2006, but this was after they had space for later dates. The 8166 I have ends with 2012D, so I had to put the proofs in an album I set up for 2012S-forward, 2005-2010 Mint set coins, varieties, and spares.Since all of the 2012 coins won't fit, the split will prob happen before that. Also, I don't think Dansco will start at 2011 since they will want to artificially make more holes that can be filled today.

The reason is that 2006 is a logical splitting point, because that was when the nickel received the permanent obverse change; it is a different series to some. This is like how they split the Wheat and Memorial cents. It allows people to collect one, the other, or both. However, they could have executed it better (sooner).

I think this was to point out precedent for doing as second album.

For those saying the 8166 is just too heavy now you need to get to the gym more often. (Just kidding)

Dansco is certainly dragging this out close to year end.

As I hinted above, I am more concerned for the binder holding up to the weight. Yeah, that is my story.

Maybe they know something that we do not. Maybe there will be no Kennedy half dollars for 2013 and beyond.

Gah! Nooooooooooooo!

I do like weighty albums. My Franklin halves album weighs a ton, but is, of course, only two pages. Those Danscos are beefy albums but of course they have a breaking point. Jeez, even the 8113 Jefferson album has some heft to it.

And I definitely should get to the gym more!

HEy Smoker, the extra page does fit into the kennedy dansco. That will get you all 4 coins up to 2017, plus the p and d for 2018. Of course it just wont be printed on the page the years. Thats the only issue for me. I did my canadian cent collection in the blank cents dansco, thats what bugs me about that. I wrote those in with a pencil, not going to do that with the kennedy blank page.

Halfhunter, I use a ptouch label maker with clear labels in my blank quarter albums.
It looks great and you can customize.

My sister new caligraphy at one point. I could get her to write in the years. It just didnt seem like there was enough room for another page.

Because I mentioned the Jefferson album because it is facing the same issue.

jbuck, good point. BUT, as you pointed out, it should have been done sooner. They didnt even have to extend it to another album. The Lincoln album the page simply stops at 1958 with blank spots and the next picks up with the LMCs. No reason they couldnt have done the same for the Jeffs. Now I need to buy a whole new album plus a page. THEN go and pull all the coins in the current last page and redo them... pain in my butt AND an added expense. Not happy.
