@silveroid yeah, I wasn't a fan of the O Canada one because it only has 5 coins... I really plan on getting the whole set. I already got 1913-1914 10$, 1913-1914 $5 in PSH. and I got the commemorative set that was released in 2002. so if I can find nice 1912, I'm done! lol but it would be so much nicer to show them off in one single case.
how do you pre-verify to see if it will hold the capsule? what size are the 5 and 10$? I checked the specs, but couldn't find the actual size anywhere.
as for your last box that you mentionned, I think it would be a good choice... just gotta find one now!

Quote: and I got the commemorative set that was released in 2002 Extremely nice set and coins, IMO...congrats for this one. (well, also the 1913 and 1914 coins, but here is no doubt). Some people will not like the idea, cause it like "replica". The Guardhouse 6-H Wooden box perfectly holds H sized air-tite capsule (example: direct fit for Maple Leaf and ASE - they same in outside dimensions). So if you have one, you can compare with $5 and $10 capsules by RCM (they also the same, right?)

@dominic, have you tried contacting the RCM about the premium boxes? Perhaps they had a couple of lying around, they probably would order a couple of more than necessary just in case..or maybe they could tell you their source for them....perhaps unlikely to get that level of knowledge from a phone call.

@Tripoli yes I e-mailed the mint a few weeks ago... but honestly, I got the typical response.... I don't even think they actually bothered reading the e-mail. the response was so generic that it didn't even really relate to what I was saying in the e-mail... rather disappointed but what can I do... :(

that's actually not a bad price for half an ounce of gold! i'll have to pass since I don't really plan on having duplicates... especially not at that price! where is "CA" though? I'm still searching for 1912s... :-/ I found quite a few, buti really want one from the hoard and preferably not graded! (I just don't want it to be in a slab)so that I can put all of them in the same box. ;-)

I thought it was a mistake too, the price should be a ms62 $5, isn't it? I put it in the cart but decided not to buy gold right now

I agree, 789$ is a steal for a 10$ one.
The 5$ with broken seal... I don't get it, it looks like regular price to me.

im thinking about getting a NGC grade on a 1914 5.00 and a 1912 10.00 piece..the 1914 has foil damage and I've found that the foils are very easily damaged so you have to be very careful when you remove them in and out of the box.....im not sure if getting them slabbed is such a good idea these days unless they will hit MS 64 . I think the original packaging is more attractive to many buyers and the ebay market is currently flooded with graded gold and not many boxed originals are available which probably accounts for some high prices achieved recently..and here I'm going to own up to the fact that the 1912 5.00 that sold for 1050 USD was my coin....and I was surprised at the high price because I had sold an ICCS MS 60 non hoard 1912 5.00 coin for less than 500.00 ...got lucky I guess....or..... the market is always ready to splurge on these types of gold coins....as they have demonstrated value over the long term which is maybe why the grading guides are keeping the prices level......I think the hoard release will be seen as a blip in the market and the coins will remain highly sought after

Look back at the Heritage auction that sold the graded 6 piece best of the best set, the really good graded ms 64 and 65 coins sold for great prices while the run of the mill ms 63, and poorly graded ms 64, preformed poorly. There was quite a few hoard coins featured at this sale.

@John100 yes, I saw those, but honestly, what's the point of looking at what is already sold? lol I mean if they were bought, most likely it's because somebody WANTED them and the chances of them parting with it are pretty slim. No? or do I have it all wrong?
