I just noticed this thread, so I'll just post the only one I've spent in a long time- lent one to a friend a couple of months ago since he forgot his lunch money. I've got some more sitting around that I will spend when I get a chance.

For those on the half dollar and dollar project this is a partial duplication, but here goes. I joined the Forum because of the 100K Half dollar and dollar project and my desire to report on my coin / money philosophy. As a farmers market seller of produce, we have to give change constantly and can make some choices as to how we do that. I made a decision 9 years ago to do things differently than our competitors just like we grow and sell unusual vegetables, we take mostly Half dollars and two dollar bills to market for making change. This highlights our different nature and quality of products. I had thought of using dollar coins too, but that presents a MAJOR practical problem as we get vastly more dollar bills in payment for produce than anything else. So, despite my desire to use the dollar coins, they are not part of our strategy. How does this relate to the project in this thread? Well, I have moved from around $200 a week of $2 bills and $40 in half dollars to now over $200 in half dollars every week and $600 in $2 bills every week that we give out. Also, it has cut our transaction efforts slightly and the time needed too. So how much have I sent into circulation of the $2 bills? Over $60,000 in 9 years. Currently over $30,000 in $2 bills per year go into circulation and we account for 85% of the $2 bills our bank branch gets. Interestingly there are distinct trends in whether the straps of $2 bills are new or not. About one year after the new $2 bills with the current administration signatures were supposed to be relaeased we then started getting them every week for months. The last four weeks it has been all used bills, mostly from the 90s, before that it was all new bills for about three months. So I will claim the $600 I got yesterday that will be distributed by next wednesday not the roughly $160,000 distributed in the last nine years. Or I could simply declare this thread satisfied? So the total is now:
$13246 to go or... If we count my use just this year then it is $46 to go!
