I went and checked them out Carl but very very few of the listings even have a pic. I have to see a coin before I pull the trigger.

Well, as this album steamrolls to complete, I'm going to ask, have you given any thought about what's next?

I still need to release the 16-D but I'll get some pics as soon as I do. I'm not sure what I wanna tackle next but I still have a ways to go on this. I'm up to the 28's now. I'm averaging about 4 bucks a coin so far, not taking the 16-D, 21, 21-D into account. I've had to replace a cpl that I've bought as they arrived a bit too shiny and messed with.

That is one of the problems I've found with Mercury dimes. Once you start a collection of them, it is really difficult to stop at just one set. Once done or almost done, you may say now what do I do with all the duplicates? I did and now have 12 sets. All but 2 are complete. And still have lots of duplicates to possibly start more sets.

Quote: Wow Carl, you have that many 16-D's ? I've told this story before. Way, way back when I was a kid there was a coin store near where I lived. I went either by there or in there all the time. One day, in the window, there was a dish full of 1916D Mercury dimes with a sign $1.50 each. This was a long, long time ago. Not sure today where I got the money as a kid but I did buy them all. Still have those. Of course back then coin collecting was no big thing and Mercury dimes were what was mostly in change every day so one with a certain date didn't mean much to people. Best one is now in set #1

the 16d is too much for me--that would be a great vacation for me-- I just stuck a sad face my daughter drew in that spot . the library of coins books are cool though, I just got one for my roosies--it smells like mildew...
