With there being 150K sets and only a HHL of 1, doesn't it kind of make you think that something is up with these sets? Why else would they make at least 3 times as many sets as normal and have the HHL set at the lowest possible (1)? It almost makes you think there might be something special coming out in this set.

The contents have already be released. That is what will be in the set.

It's just typical overcompensation on the mints part. Nothing going on other than ineptitude

Personally, I am disappointed that the Reagan set will not include a silver medal. The primary reason I have been collecting the Presidential dollar C&C sets was so I could obtain the silver medal they included; I have no collecting interest in the RP dollars that the sets have recently featured. I understand the reason for including the 30th anniversary ASE, but I still wish the set featured a silver version of the Reagan presidential medal. It's not like the set is the only way to get the anniversary ASE! Why take away the only way (at least for now) to get the silver medal! On a related note. The Public Law that authorized the American Silver Eagle coin program (signed by Reagan) also authorized the 1986 Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island commemorative coin program. In fact, the silver bullion language was "tacked on" to the commemorative program very late in the bill's journey through Congress.
Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.

I would really like to have seen a silver Reagan medal. Would have paid an extra $30 easily for that (on top of the ASE). But I think this is still going to be a worthy set. Every purchase should come with a few Amazon credits for some Cold War era music. Anyone ever hear of the band Gorky Park? If not, and you're a fan of 80's rock, you should.

Quote: The max mintage at 150k and HH limit of one is a bit confusing but I'm still getting at least one. I will get one as well. I need it for my set of C&C sets. Quote: Personally, I am disappointed that the Reagan set will not include a silver medal. Totally agree. I would rather have the medal than the ASE. This means that Reagan will Lincoln and an oddball set. At least the Lincoln had good reason with the commemorative dollar; although it is already an oddball not having a golden Presidential dollar in it. (If only the Presidential dollar series had started in 2006!) Quote:Would have paid an extra $30 easily for that (on top of the ASE). So would I!

I am sure I will buy one. But I too wish it was a medal rather than ASE. I have seven sets of ASE's going ... no reason to buy another ASE.

jbuck: Look at it this way: The Presidential C&C set started with an oddball (Lincoln) and will end with an oddball (Regan)..... that's the theme. May be the mint intended this way (conspiracy theory)...hehehe.

Well, the HH limit has been set at 5. I don't think it will sell out on the first day of availability, but you never know...

Thanks for the photo, omxfl.
It does look like the booklet will be the essays that can be found on the Mint's web site.
By the way, the product page on the mint site says the HH limit is 3, not 5.

I think it looks great. I'll buy a couple. One is for my C&C sets. The other I can part out for my Presidential dollar and ASE sets. I just have to find some empty OGP for the 2016 ASE.

I was hoping there was something really special here with a mintage 150 K and the Mint was being sneaky about something. Why else would they make that many with a HHL of 1. I guess it all boiled down to the crazy Mint being the crazy Mint. At least they changed the HHL to either 3 or 5, but I would be shocked if these things sell out.
