This is a bit of an oddball 1906 Indian Head cent and I would appreciate your thoughts on a grade.

(I'm not good at capturing luster, sorry!)

Has nice luster in hand. The obverse has smooth brown luster. The areas on the back are almost mint red and do show cartwheel. 2.5 diamonds. Obverse is a bit sharper than photos suggest.

Kind of on the fence about whether this is album toning or an old cleaning, but there are no hairlines or other surface disturbances.

XF-45 but the fields look like they have been cleaned up.

I'm at XF-40 sharpness and questionable about the reverse possibly cleaned in spots. I do tend to be conservative in my grading.

I think album storage could be the cause of the better toning on the reverse.
The reverse got somewhat protected.

thoughts...i dont think the coin was cleaned. reason, a cleaned coin is not going to have even toning like this. it looks natural to me. probably from sitting in an album for a number of years. some pitting around the N in ONE tough.

i think the sharpness of the coin pushes it over the line from XF to AU50
