(that 'W' you see on the obverse are the designers initials "A and W" stacked. for Adolph A. Weinman. You will find the mint marks on these on the reverse. The 'W' Proofs started in 2001 and the 'W' Burnished (uncirculated) started in 2006 But there is one HUGE Exception, which is the 1995-W Proof, the so-called "King" of the eagles with a low mintage of only ~~30,102~~ Umm - I mean 30,125 made. and a very high cost/value. A graded one in PR70 can go as high as $16,000, and dropping to $4,500 in PR69 (according to the latest Red Book.) Collecting since 1972. Learning from then on "Tell me and I forget.
