I think this might be a DDR. To the right of the seventh memorial cloumn there appears to be some doubling of the column. The date is a 1972 S so I don't think it's a plating issue and it doesn't look as if the metal was pushed or raised from a hit. I couldn't really find any info from a 1972s DDR. Here's some images.

Is it raised or incuse? If incuse, it's most likely damage.

@Errers and Varietys it's raised coming up at you that's why I was thinking a plating bubble or something but it can't be plated it's a 1972. Checking a roll of 72s and this is the only one I found.

you can always find out if you have a doubled die by going to a site like varietyvista.com and using the pictures there to match up your coin with the doubled dies from any date and mint mark.

@coinfrog it might be an die abrasion. Maybe a small die clash I'm not that familiar with die clash marks not sure if they are raised or incuse but it's definitely raised on the coin.
