Here is a pretty neat little coin I picked up recently. It's a Medeival Polish Grosh from around 1331-1370. The stick figures have that 'Byzantine Tinker-Toy' look about them. It only weights 1.3grams and is a little over 20mm wide.

I think it was in the $35-$40 range. I might have paid over it's book value, but since I don't have a book on ancients. It's silver so...

It's hard to find values for many continental medieval coins; there don't seem to be any good reference books that catalog them. The only way to get an idea is to go through a lot of auction results. If a coin is interesting enough to me to be worth the purchase price, I will buy it. It sounds like the price was reasonable.

I don't have a Polish piece from that period, although I have some later ones. I do have coins from other countries that have a similar look; that style was popular at the time.

I use wildwinds.com. They have a pretty good database and an easy to use inscription search feature. I actually submitted a Greek discovery coin, SNGCop 373. Here's the link.
