Quote: I think they were referring to the 2006 set... Oh, that makes sense then, I was thinking someone could make a killing if they could find the 2011 25th anniversary set for 400 bucks just by turning around and flipping them as fast as they got them. I guess I should read the posts above the last one when I read what is being said because I was getting ready to ask for examples because I wanted on that train

Or I'm totally wrong and we both missed the train...

Sorry for not indicating the post referred to the 2006 set question above it. It is after all a thread on the 25th set and I should have predicated my post as such.
I do love both sets but unfortunately I sold most of my 2006 sets over the past two years. I still have two NGC 70 sets each in a nice mahogany presentation box and a few stray NGC 69 singles.

I purchased 20 of the 20th anniversary sets and gave about 15 of them away for Christmas presents that year. There was a limit of 10 per customer but I had my aunt order the other 10 because I knew I was going to be giving more than 10 out. It turned out pretty good, I spent 100.00 on each set and by Christmas time they were selling for 300.00+ so the ones receiving them as gifts would thought they received a 300.00 gift and they actually did, but I spent allot less than they thought I did. I know its not about the money when you are talking about a gift but with kids and some people I am sure they looked up what the sets were worth once they received them

Quote: You could make your own set with just the RP being unique to the set but it would be a pain doesn't look to be a price advantage. That's a good idea. I think I saw some 2006 RP selling alone online.... but then I don't see any empty OGP selling on ebay. I either want the 2006 Set in OGP or in the NGC MS69 3-coins holder. On another note. It seemed like the ASE set (20th and 25th) had out-perform the 2010 ATB 5oz set many times over.

FINALLY at last after a long wait I got my set back from NGC. I was more than pleased with the results. It took me so long because I had to wait to send them in. Money was tight after Christmas so I waited another month to send them. I don't know if it had anything to do with it ( I doubt it) but it seems like it was worth the wait. 3 out of the 5 graded 70, and 2 graded 69. Here's an census: W uncirculated - MS70 W proof - PF70 P reverse proof - PF69 S uncirculated - MS70 bullion coin - MS69 I think I'm going to buy a reverse proof in 70 and a bullion in 70 and make a complete 70 set. So folks, how did I do?

Just another opinion, I see plenty of people who would "buy' the coins they need to complete a set, .
Is it fair to say the set will be placed in the OGP'D holder and no one will ever know? Fair NO, Reality?
These are NOT original packaged sets, but, who will ever know, I am sure people will NOT volunteer the info "IF" the time comes to sell the " Mutt-Sets"....LOL. Just an observation. Tell me I am wrong, Please.

Quote: Tell me I am wrong, Please No you are correct I am working on 2 mutt sets just need RP for each. And I can promise you there will be hundreds in the market before all is said and done. The only way to prove it is not a mutt set is Certification. That is the world we live in.

I'm sure everybody will know these are not original packaged sets. What are the odds of one complete set all being graded 70? Everybody knows that a complete 70 set will be a "mutt" set but who cares? A 70 set is a 70 set.

I believe he was referring to sets in OGP. I have bought 2 "S" and am looking for 2 "RP" to put in OGP along with other Eagles I already have. Then I will 2 more sets in OGP. That will be made up with coins not originally in the set. I believe that is what he meant by Mutt Sets

I bought my 2006 annie only about a year ago and received a "mutt set", everything looked great coming in an OGP, perfectly original, however the RP coin in the set would probably only grade out at an MS67, something to look forward to when you buy an open OGP set.

Good timing on the above response...I was just going to suggest looking for RP68's to crack out for your OMP set. They are not easy to find though....It seems more MS68 S's are out there than RP's
I have a 4/5 mutt set (I like that term) and have the RP to complete it but it's a RP69 and I just can't get myself to take it out of that holder....
