Still waiting for my set from PCGS that I sent through my local dealer. My question, since I have never sent a set in the box out, what set of numbers on the slab should run concurrent? Or should any? Just starting to get a little antsy since they were sent out before christmas. I want to make sure I get my set. Is this a normal wait time or are they backed up?

they should be concurrent yes, If you knew what number was on the submission form you would know what numbers it will have on the slab. I say that about PCGS but never really paid much attention if this is true there. I do know at NGC if you have submission form 2875937 your coins will be sent with certification number 2875937-001 for the first coin on the form and 2875937-002 for the second and so on. I do know PCGS has the coin identification number (for 1878 7TF rev of 78 Morgans its 7074) followed by a dot and the grade the coin is then a slash and I am not sure after the slash if its the submission form number or not. PCGS numbers are like this for a MS-64 1878 7TF REV of 78 Morgan 7074.64/12345678 and not sure if the 12345678 is the submission number or not, but it may be, I will have to pay attention to that next time I have a submission

Well it appears now that OGP and PR/MS69 sets are now selling at parity. Never would have thought I would see that, but here we are! The last ten sets that I viewed of each sold within the exact same price ranges ( excluding a ridiculous OGP set in sealed box that sold for over $1600! ).

I don't know about everyone else here, but regardless of what's going on in the market, I still love my 25th Anniversary ASE sets. I go all Scrooge McDuck over them WAY before the 5-oz ATB pucks.

I was in the same mindset as you and it didn't make sense how a raw opened set with only two 25th Annie eligible coins could sell for the same as a graded set 5 coin 25th Annie labeled set....until....I looked at those two coins. They could be taken from the set and submitted and might grade RP70 and MS70. Those two alone are going for near $900.

So the main value in the raw opened sets (other than the great looking set) is the RP and S. The other three are just along for the ride.

I CAN see why the unopened boxes should sell more than an opened box but it would be really dumb to pay more than what a 70 graded set is going for.

I just sent my two key coins in and to my amazement they both came back ms70.

I am in need of the other three common coins in the set in NGC ER MS70.

If anyone else has some they are willing to trade/sell shoot me an email

Thank you

There are still some "three-coin" (minus the "P" and S" coins) A25 Sets on ebay.
Since the 2011-W Proof is sold out, the 2011-W Unc. is sales-suspended pending a price increase, and the bullion 2011(S) can be attributed by its tail dimple, these "three-coin" Sets are looking better and better.

And still I sit on my unopened box of 5 sets. Maybe I will never even open it. Just hold it for 20 years and see what it is worth at that point. I may even buy a set for my collection in the OGP online.

Numismaniac, you are a better person than I am. I only ordered 1 set and I looked at the unopened box for, oh about 10 seconds before I cut it open. If I had an unopened box, I would think about every day until I could not stand it any more. Let us know in 20 years how it went. And I love my OGP set. I open it up every couple of days and drool over it. I guess I should keep a rag nearby ...

Nice score throwbackid! You have the hardest ones to get. You should have no problem finishing that set by bottom feeding on ebay. Every once in a while a bargain will show and you just go for it. It is an interesting game to play....

Paying top price for a raw set that "might" have the two keys come back as 70's, once you pay to send them off, still seems precarious though, to me.
I guess if one is "lucky" enough.......

They're mostly ALL likely 69's, with a growing handful lucky enough to get the 70 status.
Sadly I wasn't "lucky".
When my two sets came back, I had two 70's, but they weren't the two keys.....

Has anybody heard of ANY A.S.E.'s in this Set, coming back from a TPG that graded "below" 69 ? ...... I haven't, but maybe I'm not informed enough.

So the way I view these.....the lucky few will have their two Keys in 70 grade (if not a whole Set of 70's)
And then ALL THE REST OF THEM MINTED WILL BE 69'S !........
Which "should" create a large difference in price values.....

And this is all status-quo for the whole run of the ASE program for all of these years anyway right ?
Everybodys Eagle (Proof or Burnished Uncirculated) will either be a 69 or a 70, and that's it......most being 69's of course.

My "all-69" Set might be the "bottom of the barrel" and the "least coveted" or "valued" of this special anniversary set...... BUT ...... at least I have THAT !
And I'm thankful...........mostly.....

PCGS has graded over 2000 coins from the set 68 and under (actually all the way down to MS62) and that's only the FS stats.

NGC has graded around 700 at 68 or lower...

Nothing wrong with a good 69 set, which I think are just as good as the expensive 70 grade, bottom of the barrel is an open, possibly cherry picked set.

Those of you with the unopened set may soon be able to get it grade by PCGS in a 5 coins holder.... check the latest news release from PCGS. On the other hand, I think NGC had discontinue the 5 coins holder.

I'm still sitting on my unopened box of five, the most recent one sold seems to have gone for $4300 plus shipping
