Being that everyone is just starting to receive these sets, how is there already an in hand set of NGC 69 and 70's for sale? 160680284372130599877350How on Earth could they have possibly have had them graded so fast?

Modern Coin Mart is a great company and sends massive quantities of coins to the grading companies. I'm sure they have a special arrangement for delivery and grading. It will be interesting to watch those sets.
I should add NGC and MCM are both in Sarasota Florida...makes it a bit easier

UPS is using the TARDIS for a lot of the deliveries of these sets. I see that many aren't getting their origin scan until the reach the UPS hub in Louisville and my sets that are on the truck this morning arrived in Austin twice:
Austin, TX, United States 11/11/2011 7:07 A.M. Out For Delivery 11/11/2011 6:32 A.M. Arrival Scan 11/11/2011 6:02 A.M. Departure Scan 11/11/2011 5:42 A.M. Arrival Scan Louisville, KY, United States 11/11/2011 4:24 A.M. Departure Scan
They are doing a bang up job, as always, at getting these things delivered. As far as I can tell, all of the damaged goods being reported are the fault of either the mint (no padding inside the blue box) or PBGS (not enough padding around the blue boxes in the shipping box. They appear to be using one box size for all orders, whether one or five sets are shipped. The shipping weights are varying wildly, suggesting a lack of guidance in the PCGS shipping department. My sets that arrived yesterday were 4.3 & 4.5 pounds. The 4.3 pound box has the set way too loosely packed to the point of concerning me about its contents. The 4.5 pound box seems tightly packed, as it should be. Today's shipments are 4.4 & 4.5 pounds so I hope the lighter one is OK too.

I just called the mint. Somehow (as of this morning) I had two orders for 5 sets. They were both on my track order list, on mint page my account/track order. Before today there was only one order.
At first they said both orders were sent off to warehouse. Then she said she canceled the second one that showed up. I asked her .. I wanted to make sure my original order was ok. She said .. it is off to the warehouse and there is nothing I can do to stop that one. But she had just canceled the other one.
Still hoping my order comes through. And wondering if I had two sets of 5 coming .. that's what they said on the phone, even though I stopped ordering after I got the one order in.
Now I do agree .. they need a new system of ordering coins.

How is everyone liking their sets? My husband, Smokerider, is not happy at all with the reverse proof. There is a few tiny dots of what looks like the reverse proof material right to the right side of liberty. It almost looks like glitter. You can't see it straight on, but if you tilt the coins slightly you can see it. It's on his set and mine as well. I'm ok with it but he isn't. Does anyone else have this on their coins? I would post a picture but I can't capture it in a pic, that's how small it is.

Did anybody else catch that the Mint had the 25th Anniv. set back up for sale this morning? It was only for about an hour (8 AM - 9AM)? My friend placed an order and received an order #. How knows what this means?!

1:35p order of 5 arrived this AM and the box is in good shape, nothing rattling inside. Now to figure out how to package these up for shipment but..at least I have a day to figure it out. Also re: order placed today. It will be cancelled when reviewed. Earlier this year I tried to place a 2nd order for the 1 per household ATB P puck and I got an order number but it was squashed a few days later.

Quote: clairhardesty: In my opinion, if you are not planning to sell any of your coins, there is no reason to have them graded. In the very long term, like when our children own our collections, graded and slabbed coins may have faded from favor. If the majority of sets were sent in for immediate grading, this may work in favor of OGP sets in the long term. The 2008 Gold Buffalo Four-Coin Sets (in every ebay auction I've seen) are worth more raw in OGP than as MS69 slabbed coins. The last Uncirculated four-coin Set of those in OGP on the Bay went for almost NGC MS70 money. It must be admitted that slabbed Sets of 2008 Buffalos can be assembled from four individual coins, giving original Sets in OGP a unique provenance. The ASE set is different in this respect, because slabs for the "other three" coins will indicate if they were in the Set (if all were sent in the sealed Mint shipping box). With the 2008 Buffalos, the OGP (minus coins) is collectible in and of itself. If the majority of these ASE sets are sent in for grading without OGP return, there will be less than 50,000 examples of this Set's OGP Most of the remaining OGP will still contain coins, making empty box-COA-capsule packaging quite scarce (and, like the Buffalos, in demand from those owning the slabbed coins).

They're not enough to upset me, I just figure I got a 68 or 69 and not a 70. I would describe my bullion finish as perfect, my reverse proof and W mint uncirculated as flawed, but within the range of acceptability (68 or 69), and my proof and S mint uncirculated as unacceptably damaged. So, I'd say I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of the set overall.

Quote:oih82w8 So...how much were they offering for the ASE 25th Anniversary Set? They're only buying in-person from locals. $450 for a set in OGP, $500 for each Set in a Mint sealed box. Not as much as they're going for on ebay, but it is an immediate local payment. Shop owner told me the sealed Mint box sets purchased will go to PCGS, and OGP sets will go in the display case. All the Sets he and his employees ordered (I'm assuming at least 55 Sets) will go to PCGS. He also expects a number of customers who sent in their Sets for grading will also want to buy an OGP Set on the secondary market, since many customers (like myself) placed only one order and thus will have to choose their five Sets to be "all-graded" or "all-OGP".

All coins will come in the exclusive 25th Anniversary NGC Blue Label Early Releases $3,975/se I don't understand why the no MM bullion would be the "key" of the set since there are a bazillion of them out there. Yes, these have a label on them but 40 million as a mintage (they could be from either mint)?(and all the other coins in the set would have the same label so that should rule that out as a reason) So a unique 100k nowhere-else-found S mint is not a key? a 100k RP found nowhere else is not a key? Yup, a run of the mill multi-million issue coin would be the key.....I think not

In regards to the sets being on sale on the mint website this morning - I will have to lodge a serious complaint with the mint if they are filling orders and my "late" order at 5pm on the sale day did not get filled. I received the message telling me that I will get filled if there are sufficient cancellations etc.
Heads are going to roll....
