I stopped by my g/f's last night to pick up my set. The "S" mint uncirculated was loose, but no damage, so I just put it back into it's case. I love the set! I took a good look at each coin and didn't see any issues. My reverse proof looks flawless and my, what a beautiful coin! I need to get the 2006 RP now. I think the RP is much more attractive than the normal proof coin. Overall I'm very happy with my set. I have it displayed on my dresser now, opened in all its glory, so I get to see it every morning. The packaging was very good, better than I expected, and the fact the box doubles as a display case is a really a nice touch IMO. I think the mint did a great job with this set.

I received the message telling me that I will get filled if there are sufficient cancellations etc.

I stayed home today to pick up the Mint box. Since I opened it, it's "OGP" for me. And I love the lacquered blue presentation cases.  The verdict: 24 visually unimpaired coins (69 even under the strictest grading) and one Reverse Proof with a small (5mm) die break on the obverse, beside the "B" in Liberty. The break can be seen with the naked eye, depending on the viewing angle. Looked like a trapped piece of lint until I used my 16x loupe. I've named this Reverse Proof "The Misfit".  It's an attractive coin that could still honestly grade PR69. The Misfit and her four companions get to stay at home with me (in my wall safe), while the others go off to my safe deposit box. Not enough room in my wall safe for all five of these Sets, anyway! Edited by DNA

As far as the bullion coin being the rarest, there is that possibility in ms70 grade. The grading services did not grade ANY 5 oz ATB bullion coins higher than ms69. The 4 million bullion coins, if sent in may be the same coin but not grade higher than ms69, but if sent in a sealed "collector" set the grading services will grade a ms70. So all those who opened the sets now diminish the number available for the bullion ms70. You can also get a ms70 W and a pf70 W in collector grade outside this set. All Reverse proofs and S mint have the capability of being graded, so the bullion coin truly can be the "rarest" in ms70 grade. |

I opened a new tab and searched ebay for: 2011 american silver eagle MS70 PCGS25 results, mostly for bullion strike coins (including a few bullion ASE's from San Francisco monster boxes) 2011 american silver eagle MS70 NGC80 results (many of those, but not all, are 2011-W burnished). anyone seen this auction? http://cgi.ebay.com/2011-American-S...em19caa7a84f what in the world is he doing, going to sell each coin individually? Edit: I just looked he also has the RP coin for the same price. So maybe he is going to keep the other 3 and still get $800.00 for the set if he sells those two coins for the price he wants for them |

He might be taking advantage of those who want just the unique coins from the set or who got damaged coins and just want to replace the one bad one to get a complete set.

Using NGC stats for 2011 bullion coins only 7% of the overall bullion submissions were graded 70's. Of the dealer (S) submissions it was 14% W's got 56% 70's PF's got 71% 70's |

If you look at the 2006 20th Ann set the W ms70 is selling for 800-1000 and the rev PDF 70 is 450-600. Fewer grade 70

I'm going to be breaking up two sets for albums and will windup with an extra Reverse Proof, but not an extra S mint burnished, and was trying to decide if I should hold onto it or sell it. Going for $400 that quick makes me think that I should sell it.
