Quote: I received the following message from the mint;
Order #: 3839xxxx - 1 Sold To : Me Ship To : Me Item: A25 Qty: 1 Exp Ship: 11/28/11 25TH ANNIVERSARY AE 5 COIN SILVER SET
Does this mean I still have a shot at getting a set? As long as you don't see the words "your order has been cancelled" there is hope....

jgfindring, make sure that your buyer files a claim with UPS before taking any action. Even if UPS doesn't insure coins, the claim that the blue box was broken should still be a recoverable loss. You should ask for pictures of the damage, including the outer box with your shipping label on it. Ask your buyer why the shipment wasn't rejected if it was heavily damaged and was,'t the first time. You should do what is right but you should also protect yourself.
mwr1550, I am assuming that what you got was the Monday backorder notice, stating that your order is still waiting for product. This at least means that they have not cancelled you yet but it looks like they are all but finished shipping and that there are few if any sets left. The mint may be keeping a small number of orders on the waiting list until the return window expires. Since returns aren't likely, if they are at this stage, chances are that no more sets will ship. Good luck to all who are still waiting!

To answer some of the questions regarding my shipment, yes I sent it insured. I sent it UPS because I could do it from work and not have to take time off to go to the Post Office. It was not a sealed set, I bought 5 sets in one order, sold one to Earle42 for a relatively cheap price, since the mint screwed him over, sold this one on ebay, broke up two sets for albums and one set whole for me. This means I do have a spare box/packaging set to send this buyer. I am not replacing the scratched coin, nor is he asking for that. UPS is picking up the damaged box from him. I told him to remove the coins first. My problem now will be establishing for their satisfaction the value of the damaged packaging. I was planning to sell the one that will now be the replacement as a partial set on ebay.

I will receive my 5 sets tonight. open it or keep them sealed? that's the question. selling on ebay or having them graded from Canada are costly. maybe I will try to trade 2 sets for 1oz gold or platinum

As far as the damaged sets being reported(sealed boxes sent to ebay buyers)...this is EXACTLY why I choose NOT to sell my boxes this way..there is no way to stop swappers...all they have to do is buy the 3 common Eagles, with known flaws, and cry foul....besides, the original sets were SO poorly packed from the mint(Every capsule was loose in my 4 sets, with 4 cracked coin-holders), sending out for MORE rough handling just raises the odds of possible truly damaged coins...I decided to opt out of the ER & FS option, so I could view my order in hand, to inspect them...glad I did... I don't know of any ebay buyers who have ever lost a case opened...crook or not, ebay backs them up 100%... My UPS driver dropped my box, on delivery day, RIGHT in front of me...I almost croaked...3 ft. drop to the gravel.... Anyway, I meant to say on here, my last order of 1 box, from 5:29 pm has gone through...if you want the #, I'll post it...no tracking yet, but, "In Stock & Reserved"(from on hold yesterday), so, all you late orderers, keep your fingers crossed... So, I get to inspect my coins(see thread about reverse proof frosting issues, earlier by me--still curious if anybody else's RP has that?), and pick the best for possible slabbing--decided to go Anacs, as well-appreciated now, and, only 10 dollar submission fee.... The Mint HAS to get a grip on better packing for their products...

Here's my# 383822XX 5:24 pm changed to "In Stock & Reserved" this AM... I just realized that the OGP for these sets may, or, should have value unto themselves...if someone who missed out wanted to make their own real set, they could...buy the reverse proof and S-Mint coin, and the 3 common coins, then, buy a nice box/display case, with COA...bingo...complete set...since the COA was not numbered(23,456/100,000, for example), it should work for those wanting their own set, right? Makes you wonder where all the display cases and COA's are going after all the slbbing is done! I'm sure a lot are just being tossed.... Tangent(sorry, I'm know for these)..can someone please tell me which exact coin capsule the mint uses for their Eagles(Lighthouse, Kointains, Airtights, or, Coinsafe?) for these sets? I have to replace 5 cracked ones, and I want the same exact holder, so everything matches) Thanks a ton Calvin

UPS is trying to charge me $200 tax on these coins. Any canadian buyer has this problem? US mint needs to describe this as 999 silver to make it tax free. I have to wait one more day...

That is exactly how I will get a display OMP set for myself. I will crack out the lowest graded S and RP of my sets and make up my own. The difference between 68-70 is not really noticeable...nice OMP set next to a nice MS/PF 70 set both in the same type boxes...

Relisted and sold my sealed box of 4 sets. Relist only got $3250, so I lost $150 from the non-paying bidder, but I'm not greedy or concerned. $100 in ebay fees, $95 in Paypal ( ebay) fees and $51 to ship USPS priority mail with signature confirmation and insurance. So all in all, I will end up with $3k from the sets I paid $1200 for. I have one set, still sealed, for myself.

brakeman: Congrats on getting your order filled. I'm still waiting to hear about my order number 38384xxx. I'm still hoping to get some good news tomorrow or maybe next Monday, assuming the mint may be off on Friday.
