Quote: Craigslist and the jackwagon's listing on it=shady.... In large part, you are probably right about that, Hawk. I do know that the people on Craig's List are among the world's worst business people. They do not describe what they are selling very fully, often leaving out vital info that should be included in their ad. They do not return calls or emails very often either. Only 1 time out of the dozens of times that I have tried to use CL, has the person been accurate in their description, reasonable in price, and responsive to phone calls and emails. Naturally, I bought what he was selling and at his asking price. It was a decent deal and both of us came away feeling good about it.

Quote: . I do know that the people on Craig's List are among the world's worst business people. That's because most of them are not "business people". They're members of the generally pubic who have some coins to sell, and perhaps don't even know where to find a local dealer. You can't really expect any more sophistication from them than the average person standing in line at a hotel coin buyer's room.

We sold a tractor and a car on Craigslist and had to weed out the strange buyers. But we did sell both and fairly fast to nice individuals at the price we wanted so I guess it all depends

I'm not expecting sophistication from them, just some common sense. Alas, that seems to be too much. :-/ Hope springs eternal, though. I DID find the one fellow with a very nice 5-hp rototiller to sell and I bought it. It was about 5-6 years old but in like new condition for $125. I didn't even bother to haggle.

I just realized something.
I got serious about buying silver when it stayed above $22 per ounce. My first buy then was 17 times face ($23.78/oz) at spot from a dealer. Since then silver has gone up and so have the prices that I have paid.
Looking back, I see that my buying and selling activity has lowered my average cost to $22.78/oz. Considering silver is about $30 now, I think that is decently better than my bank wants to pay me, with less risk of losing it all when/if SHTF.

Don't even get me started with those guys! Good job on the dollar cost averaging into your silver position, though. I started collecting silver after that so probably have a higher per oz. average than you have. Still, I am comforted by 2 thoughts: 1) better late than never; and 2) it is highly likely that there will come a time when we look back at our silver buys and can't believe that we got in that cheaply.

As to the original question, "Are you buying?"... yes, I am. I stopped at my local pawn shop / bullion coin guys' shop today and found a good supply of 90% silver coins to buy. I got 4 Morgans, 20 Walking Liberty halves, 4 Kennedy halves, 2 Franklin halves, 7 Washington quarters, 4 Roosevelt dimes, and 2 Mercury dimes. I just about cleaned him out today. All of this was purchased at the Kitco spot price as of about 11:45 AM PDT. A few of these coins were in AU condition but most were F-VF quality with a few F-G quality ones. Since these are all bullion coins and nothing special, I can live with them not being of high quality. An ounce of silver IS an ounce of silver, after all.

Silver is projected to drop down to about 5 dollars an ounce. I dont think thats going to happen though. I could see it dropping below 20 an ounce though. When that happens thats when Ill actually start buying. But until then I'm buying as much silver and gold I can as cheap as possible. When I mean cheap I mean no more than a dollar a necklace for silver or no more than 5 dollars for a gold necklace. Believe it or not I've come across alot of it already. I did have a big bust recently though I paid 100 dollars for a group of gold and silver where as the gold was all junk. I did manage to atleast pull out 12 dollars for the junk gold though. The stuff thast came with it that wasnt gold or silver is whats going to break me even though (antiques). The funny thing is after I sold that junk for 12 dollars not the silver though I hit a garage sale on the way home. I found a really nice sterling silver art deco glass bracelet. I paid 75 cents for it and resold it for 50 dollars. The amount of silver wasnt even a quarter of an ounce.

Who is projecting $5 an oz? I haven't seen that low, even from silver bears.

The people were saying in a 3-4 yr time frame about it dropping that low. But like I said I dont think it will happen. 17 dollars an ounce will be around about what it will drop to in time. Once it hits 17 I'm going to buy alot of silver then wait till it to hit around 35 an ounce and sell.

Quote: Silver is projected to drop down to about 5 dollars an ounce. I would be very careful with such advice. IMO, anyone projecting a price this low probably has an agenda that is causing them to push this line of thought. JP Morgan, anyone? :-/ Personally, I would love to have the opportunity to buy about $50k worth of silver at $5 an oz.

I bought a 10 oz. silver bar today, Craigslist is for simple people and con artists. IC double just wants silver to drop to $5 an oz. big difference over many projections which are another supposed steep drop or correction and at say $24 people will be backing the truck up.
