2012 plans are to update my sets with US 2012 coins (circulated/business strikes & ASE), and continue to work on my Birth Year Set. I have 34 different countries with 47 coins. I currently have orders made or planned to make it 38 different countries with 60 coins

Hmmm...tough question. I have quite a few NICE, extra Lincoln wheats - debating on sitting on them or selling and freeing up the cash to buy an S VDB. Need/want to finish my Wheat set. Only missing the S VDB (I do not consider a 22 plain as part of the set - it is an error coin). I am close....very close. Just need to find quality, problem free coins. I live in the middle of no where, so...kind of hard to complete. Thinking of starting a new series - Indian Head cents, Buff nickels, Washington quarters, or Standing Liberty quarters. Time AND funds will tell.

Just grab anything that looks interesting, from ancient to modern, and seems to be good value for money.
That is how I have always collected.
With that sort of broad approach, I must admit that I need good professional advice on the acquisition of big ticket items, to guard against forgery.

My numismatic-related goals for 2012 are: 1) Update my late grandfather's ASE collection. 2) Finish coding and testing Numismetrica. 3) Input my collection *into* Numismetrica so I can see what the heck I have all at once. :-) 4) Refine my coin recognition program (I'm using artificial neural networks [ANNs] to recognize coins by type, date and eventually variety in digital photographs) to the point I can get working on the date sorting machine project. 5) Roll search at least a quarter million coins. (Which is 100 boxes of pennies or 125 boxes of nickels or 100 boxes of dimes or 125 boxes of quarters or 250 boxes of halves or 1000 boxes of dollars... whew). I'm getting a good rhythm going now with a single box at a time. 6) Ponder if I've left anything out... :-)

My game plan for 2012 is to get all the 2012 American and 2012 Canadian coins. I will be getting a 2012 ASE. Now with the Presidential dollars becoming a NIFC coin they will be harder to get as banks won't be carrying them. Haven't figured out how I'll be buying them yet. I have just a few gaps in my earlier sets and hope to fill in some of them also. Large cents: need 11 and I'm done with the set Indianhead cents: need 4 to complete the set Lincoln cents: I just may break down and buy an affordable 1931 S. Shield nickels: just have 3 so far so I'll be working on them. Liberty nickels: need 4 to complete the set Buffalo nickel: need 1 to complete the set Most likely I'll be working on those and silver Roosevelt dimes. Just started on them and have about half of the series. When those are near completion I'll start on Franklin halves as I just have 2 coins so far. As for dollars, I have all the Ikes, SBA's and Sac dollars and have no interest in gathering additional Morgan and Peace dollars more than what I already have. Canadian coinage always has some interesting commemoratives which makes collecting them fun. Eventually I'll be working my way back with pre 1967 silver Voyageur dollars, half dollars and filling in my silver Canadian quarter gaps. There's always something to look for!

Hoping to put a major dent in my Mercury dime Dansco. Only 25 slots filled so far. If I manage that, I'll be starting on a Roosevelt silver set which I currently only have 7 of.

Me, I hope to buy some of the key dates for my set of Lincolns, starting with 1931-S and 1909-S. Also, I'm graduating college in May, and I let my parents know that the 1909-S VDB is what I want as my graduation gift. I also plan to buy some key dates for my set of Buffalos: 1921-S, 1913-D Type 2, and 1914-D. Also, I want to expand my short set of Mercury dimes, to collect all of them from the 1930's and 1940's. Ditto a short set of silver Washington's, complete the 1940's (maybe if I save up and plan things out, I can buy the remainder of the 1930's for that series). I'll also buy a few more common-date Standing Liberty quarters to add to my collection. Finally, I'll invest in some albums to prep my coins for long-term storage.

Simple: find a 1992 CAM but I'll start with a 1999 WAM.

I'm going to try to find some more red seal $2 bills, do some more coin roll hunting with nickels and especially half dollars.
