Because of internal troubles I have to wear loose fitting lowers, like sweat pants. Makes it hard to put much in pockets without drawers falling off! Even a set of keys brings 'm down. To help solve problem for cooler seasons, wear shoulder holster w/ belt clips, acts like suspenders. Then my keyring bezel w/ a type 1 1873 Trade dollar can see some wear, oh, BTW, did I mention its FAKE! Why would I want to wear out my silver bullion, all maybe half a gram a year...(snark!) Worn any gold off yet Spruett. Up north we call that fidgiting, "pocket pool"!

Quote:I had one about twenty years ago. It was a proof 1977-S Washington quarter that I was trying to wear down. I kept it in my pocket for several years until the day I accidentally dropped it down between the seat cushion and arm of an overstuffed chair and it disappeared. I would have had to rip the chair apart to retrieve it. Quote: Got both of these in change during a Canada trip in '68. Carried them about 15 yrs, then retired them to my odds & ends. I now carry 1888 & 1921S Morgans,1893 Columbian half & 1915 Barber half. I like hefty silver. I won't live long enough for them to look like the halfs shown. Very nice!

Good luck with the new job. I hope your pocket pieces see some wear.

Jeffrose...not even going to ask why you carry a 1915 P Half. They only made several hundred thousand of 'em, still a $100 coin.

That reminds me, I need to do an update. It's taken a few months now, carrying it every day, to really see any noticeable difference. I'll have to get pics soon. Lookin' good Mont! Maybe I should add another. Hmmm...

It's been a while since I've posted an update because I haven't carried my pocket pieces for months, but now they're back and wearing down! The Kennedy half has taken a surprising beating recently.

Update on the pocket: Sold my 1883-O Morgan with a bunch of other silver dollars several months back to help raise money for our family vacation, and the 1942 Half Crown was given to a friend who was born in the UK and showed interest in it. More recently I am toting a harshly cleaned (probably whizzed) Morgan for which I traded in a bunch of 40% halves a few weeks ago. This too is an 1883 (100 years before my birth), but a Philly this time. I'm kind of "eh" on this one...it may stay, it may go. We'll have to see. Also a 1965 Kennedy half for the last couple months, from circulation. And occasionally a 1983-S Olympic dollar with a big scratch down the left side of the obverse. Here is the 1883 Morgan the day after it went into the pocket.

My pocket pieces are continuing to wear away slowly, and for the second month in a row, the Kennedy half has taken a beating with a very nasty hairline scratch in the lower obverse. Some spare change and keys join them off and on.
