Hello all,

I have a 1942 penny, Perth Mint, with no mintmark. Is this odd?, as I have never heard or read of a '42y. with no mm.
There is literally no trace of a mintmark at all. I wish I could take a picture good enough to show the specific area properly. I have attached the best I could do.
I know the coin is a bit worn, but under 10x magnification of the area there is nothing there at all.
I hope the picture I have attached helps.

You might find an explanation for it here:

Thankyou for that link, Nancy, it was very interesting reading =o).
It was the kind of information that made my heart race, in fact it actually made me think that this particular coin if not something simple as a filled die, might actually be proof of a test pressing at Bombay with the reverse and obverse dies sent from Melbourne to be used for their minting but were not used for some "mysterious" reason. I am more intrigued and hopeful for this coin might (and I stress "might" highly) be a clue in the mystery.
