A coin like that should be in a hard holder... ICCS flips are poorly designed for the protection of larger coins. I think PCGS would call that one MS-63.

Superior quality of strike on this coin. It's a keeper regardless of the grade ICCS gives.I believe and hope future collectors will value strike above lustre and distractions for mintstate coins.A truly desireable coin should be one that best shows the design as intended.Weak strike or worn dies should not be compensated for by superior lustre or absence of marks, those are merely icing on the cake IMO.

Definitely a gorgeous MS coin.
But...it is 100% dipped.
Dipping is NOT cleaning and most (if not all) blast white coins that are over 100 years old have been dipped. To think otherwise, in my opinion is just foolish.
Tell me how does a 100+ year old coin survive the 'tarnishing' atmosphere without even a speck of toning?
A coin can be dipped once, perhaps twice and not lose any of its original lustre.
I'm thinking ICCS will grade it either ms62 or ms63 and PCGS may just grade the coin 'Unc details' (which I personally disagree with) due to the appearance of 'hairlines' on the coins' surface.

sorry doubleeagle coin is not dipped..I have it in hand and I know a dipped coin when I see one.. The color is very evident.. and in hand you can see some toning on this and I also believe in the pic it shows also

It's a great and very tough piece to find. I wish that I had anything in that series that was anywhere near that grade,....but I don't. Beautiful piece..!!
Thanks for posting those beautiful pics...

I'm sorry too artdio, as the coin is obviously dipped, but then again, you and I can post back and forth our differing opinions.
Nothing can convince me otherwise and I'm sure you feel the same way too.
It's still a very nice coin though, worthy of being in anyones collection.

1910 was a year where the mint was creating lots of experimental finishes yours looks a lot like the 50 cent experiment with the matte like obverse and matte like reverse with some what mirror devices there are pics of this coin on the back of the Charlton 66th edition worth getting checked out.
