I saw the final designs on their Facebook page this morning. Not impressed.

So they went with the "boot print" version? Not my first choice, but still a fun topic for a commem.

On a side note - why won't the Mint commonly issue silver half-dollar commemoratives in this type of set? Is it planchet supply? In this case, with the concave design I figure they could come up with something? Are all the coins concave or only the dollar? Is that enough questions in one post?

From the article I linked above: "In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first manned landing on the Moon, the U.S. Mint is striking $5 gold coins, 5-ounce silver dollars, 1-ounce silver dollars, and clad half-dollars. All of them will share common designs and a curved shape."

I imagine it's to keep one of them affordable for younger collectors.

Additionally, look forward to a half dollar set with coins from the San Francisco Mint that celebrate the correlation between President Kennedy and the American space program. This set will contain one 2019-S Proof Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Half Dollar and one 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof Kennedy half dollar.
Okay, you got my attention.

It's the footprint! I'm in!

Me too! But then again, I was always in, no matter the design.

That does indeed sound like a worthy set. Going to have to save up for these...

$1 Silver Proof
$1 Silver UNC
$5 Gold Proof
$5 Gold UNC
$1 5-oz Silver
Half Dollar Proof
Half Dollar UNC
Half Dollar Set

Though I will likely only get the proof in the gold version.

No gold for me, but I could end up with four of the other five.

I am pondering that if I get the half dollar set, should I also get the half dollar on its own. So far, I want the two coin half set and both silver proof offerings.

Apparently the Mint is expecting a very quick sell out for the 5 ouncers and the halves set.

Doesn't surprise me either.

I'll be ready.
