Wow thanks guys, your comments are inspiring. I am not sure why but I have always been very attracted to this particular coin. In general coin collecting is too tedious, and the learning curve is to much for me.. so I just focus on one or two that I really enjoy such as this series. I also like toned morgans and indian head pennies but nothing to show off at the moment.
I have NOT yet looked for an 11D and am not sure I ever will. I buy what is attractive to me and a low grade 11d most likely wont attract me enough to spend $5000+ on. But who knows. I am sure a time will come when I will need to complete this set, in one way or another. I did buy the second and semi-key, a 1914 in MS64 and I will always be looking for a nicer one then I have.. but much more interested in that then the 11d.

Super collection @JB! I don't have specific feedback on the direction you are going, but one thing that I would like is if your website pics showed close-ups of all of the coins, rather than the whole slab. With many of the current coin pics, it almost feels like the slab is part of the reason for your collection. Maybe that is true, and if it is, then you are doing it exactly right.

That is an extremely nicely done set and some SERIOUSLY jaw-dropping coins in the mix there..CAC, a few old holders, just drool-worthy. Welcome back to CCF!

I'm not much on 3rd party grading, but I think you're wise to buy only certified US Indian gold coins. It's an insurance policy that they're real and were not improperly cleaned. Virtually any quality coin is going to be certified anyway. Quote: all of yours appeared CAC worthy. I agree here, but this is yet another example of why I don't find a 4th party certification like CAC worthwhile. My advice is to buy the ones you like as you obviously have good taste, but don't pay significantly extra for a CAC stickered coin. From a security standpoint, I'd be wary of putting my name on the internet along with pictures of gold coins. Unfortunately, there are lots of predators out there and it only takes one.

Not sure how to quote on this forum...
Bret, all your points are valid. I have considered that point regarding security over the many many years I've had this site up, at least with the custom knives (which are worth alot more then the coins I have). I have tried to figure out a different domain name but nothing I have tried to get has been available since creating it. While I don't keep most of my collectables here, it still matters not if someone breaks in and takes something else. Something I will continue to brainstorm and hopefully come up with a better solution (or a better domain name). In the world of custom knives its important to build a name for yourself to get ahead and that is where I am coming from. I understand with coins, there are many many more of them out there and its a HUGE world compared to the custom knife world. Overall I agree that it could be more of a problem with the gold.
Regarding CAC, I agree that its not wise to pay some of those premiums.. however as a collector at heart if I see something that I am very attracted to I will sometimes pull the trigger even if the number isn't perfect. Sometimes the gratitude of owning and admiring a piece in person makes up for the premium. That said, I don't search for coins with CAC stickers, I just search for what I like, stickered or not. I am not convinced all my coins are CAC worthy, but a few of them definitely are worth a shot when I get around to it. I think when it comes to selling, the CAC sticker may not increase value, but may make the sale more likely to happen. Who knows! I am still learning.
Thanks for all your comments folks!

My favorite coin design is probably a Gold Indian 2 1/2, 5 and the other one, the $10.00. Beautiful collection. I also looked closely at your folder Damascus knives. Wow. Great website too.
