Thanks for the responses so far. The only U.S. coin I have purchased in an NNC slab, an 1804 Half Cent, was returned because it had damage that didn't show in the photo. I stay away from their U.S. slabs, but was curious about this one. I have bought ancient Roman coins in NNC holders, because in the past they sometimes misattributed a coin and you could pick up something nicer they didn't know about. I once got a coin of the scarcer emperor Allectus misidentified as the emperor Aurelian. They both start with "A", you know.

Since I can see a "+" after where the grade is blacked out, I think that NNC graded it MS69+.

As they say, grade the coin not the seller lol.

The rim on the reverse at the 9:30 to 10:00 position appears to be damaged/bent. The coin appears AU but is missing that little "Details - Damaged" note on the label that every legitimate grading service would give it. NNC is not an ebay approved grading service so he gets around it by blacking out his inflated grade on the label. Remember, Centsles and NNC are one and the same and have been called out many times on many numismatic forums for a very long time. Always remember to ask yourself "why is this coin NOT in a legitimate slab?" before parting with your hard earned money! If you cannot answer that question then don't buy the coin!

I hope the buyer got a good deal. Just assume if it's NNC, it's got problems. The black out the number grade on ebay, because they aren't recognized as legit.
