I thought so too.
My impression is that there is no way the slabs could be opened short of damaging the slab IF they were sealed correctly.
If they can be snapped shut, the can easily be pried open with no damage.

If that's the case with your coins you can return them to be fixed at no cost to you, and that included S&H.

I have freed a few coins from their holders for my 7070.
The slab needs to be pretty much destroyed to open. If yours snaps together there is something wrong. I'd call customer service and let them know your issue.

Are you certain it was PCGS or was it PGCS?

Now that I think about it, maybe I did send it to PGCS... the grades I received were a little wonky

Does anyone want to me to post a video of it snapping back into place?

Great video, and it looks like a PCGS slab, but hard to tell for sure without a straight on shot of it.

I never heard of PGCS. But in any case, what coin is in that slab and whats that grade. we would like to see the front of the slab. Otherwise you are wasting our time.

PGCS is just a parody name. These coins came directly from PCGS (I submitted them). I just made this post to see if anyone had this experience before and to see if there's any harm in snapping them back into place myself

Need to send it back to them, the seal on that batch failed for whatever reason. Could have been a bad batch of slabs or something but they'll put them in new slabs for free. Just call customer service on Monday

Yup, totally unacceptable. I have submitted many coins to PCGS, with none ever coming back like that.
Call them explaining the problem, and send them back. They will make that right I am sure instantly.

Depends. Generally a couple days, right now a week or so as they're backed up and worked a weekend to catch up

But after the first of the year when green monster boxes of 2020 ASE's start flooding in the wait time will grow significantly.

They are, but they probably snap together before they go to the sonic welder.

It is rare for it to happen but every now and then a submission or part of one, misses the sonic welder and doesn't get sealed. PCGS will fix the problem.
