Thanks for commenting. I enjoy it immensely. I thought to myself if I wait for one without lint marks to come around how long would it be and would I miss it like I missed the last one some 18 months ago.I said to myself if this 67+ was good enough for D.L.... then let's see if I can shave a little off the price then..@ Spence, yes struck-thru errors. I forgot what they call it if the lint mark causes it to rise up though.

Glad you like it @ acloco. ....and Jon, I'd have to look at that on the Hansen coins. I'd ave to assume if he had more money than one can know what to do with that he may just buy whatever he likes whenever he likes grade aside...so it would seem reasonable that a great deal of his coins won't be Cac'd...until he decided to go for the best...and maybe not even then. I'll have a look at the DL collection on DLRC for sale just to look how many of his lower end coins aren't Cac'd.

Doc, I've mentioned this on occasion before. You have impeccable taste and a very keen eye for some of the best examples out there. This one is exquisite with just enough tone as to not hinder the device features. I hope that the half comes up soon for you.

Ballyhoo, the half dollar I've been eyeing recently sold...the asking price was $11,500 but I was told $10,000 for the pf 67....but it was still very overpriced. I'm sure the consignor paid a pretty penny for it and had to ask for that amount not to lose too much on it. There are a couple pf 66 out there I'm thinking about having cracked open and sent to PCGS if I do. This V-nickel proof had a little color on the reverse which sold it for me since the 1905 proof set I'm building has to have color.

A heck of a lot of coins have come out of the D.L. Hansen collection. I decided to look him up the other night, I found out he is a big time business investor in Utah, he is also into Soccer in a big way. Seems like a pretty good guy for a multi billionaire. Dell Loy is also now a partner in David Lawrence Coin Galleries (which I did not know). Found this article on him from a Utah news source. https://www.utahbusiness.com/dell-l...ness-empire/He could buy his way into an Eliasberg type collection possibly, I'm not sure what his collecting goals ultimately are, but he has been acquiring some really nice ultra rarities lately and I imagine what he is selling off - is his extras and duplicates! (According to this article it's an Eliasberg collection only with finest known coins and top registry sets). https://coinweek.com/us-coins/eclip...of-all-time/

Westcoin. He already surpassed Eliasberg's collection...and surpassed him to current day. Of course with modern technology it was easier to find the coins. But that's not to take away from what he's done.

What an amazing coin! I think these older proofs are very underrated. The mintages for all of them are so small, and finding quality examples can be tough. Congrats on a nice piece!

From the "other forum" where there is an ongoing thread I was able to see this post from early this morning (3/22/2020): Dell Loy purchased the 1854-S Liberty Head Half Eagle, PCGS AU-58+ CAC Price Realized: $1,920,000 Provenance: The F.C.C. Boyd Specimen, Ex: Eliasberg-Pogue He got a steal of a deal on that coin thought it would be $3 million. There are 13 remaining coins in the Eliasberg Quest. The two coins shown in BOLD are required to complete the Hall of Fame "Complete 1792 to Present Registry Set". The remaining 11 coins are required for a Historically Complete US Collection equal to the accomplishment that Louis Eliasberg achieved around 1950. 1870-S Half Dime (Unique Coin in Tom Bender PCGS Registry Collection) 1873-CC "No Arrows" Dime (Unique Coin in an anonymous collection) 1870-S Three Dollar Only (Unique Coin owned by the Bass Foundation displayed at the ANA) 1866 "No Motto" Dollar Proof Only (2 Minted, Unique Private Coin in Simpson Collection) 1933 Double Eagle (Known Survival 16, Unique Legally Owned Coin - anonymous collection) 1822 Half Eagle (Survival 3, Unique Private Owned Coin in the Pogue Collection) 1798 "Small Eagle" Half Eagle (Survival 7, possibly 2 nice examples could be purchased)1913 Liberty Head Nickel Proof Only (5 Minted, 3 private owned) 1838-0 Half Dollar BM Only (Survival 9, six known for private purchase) 1827 "Original" Quarter Dollar Proof Only (Survival 9) 1880 Four Dollar Gold "Stella's" (Coiled Hair) Proof Only (Survival 8) 1880 Four Dollar Gold "Stella's" (Flowing Hair) Proof Only (Survival 24) 1839 Gobrecht Original Dollar (Survival 60-75) Note: DLH has an 1839 Restrike #32225780 So almost to Eliasberg but under a dozen coins shy of making it. I know he eclipsed it in quality, but not in completeness - yet. I don't know how I was so out of the loop on where he had gotten with the collection, but I'm glad I've got the time to be going through the 65 page thread, his coins are all so amazing, and he has added so many since I last remember looking at them, (probably 2 years ago). I love that he is so open with his collection, the opposite of so many collectors today, (yet understandable with a need for security). Plus it's neat that you now have a piece from his collection and quest to the best and most complete collections of US coins ever!

Doc, I'm just glad you posted your coin that led me to look into the story, I too had no idea he was this close and it's been a fun read so far, the coins are amazing in the collection he is putting together. I find it crazy he can do this in the public without competitors keeping him form getting the coins he needs or running the prices up.
