Not certain what your "suspension" is? It looks like your coin has been damaged post mint and is not an error. Doesn't appear to be a "straight clip" to me. Looks as if someone used a grinder on it. to the CCF!

@Spence, thanks for your reply. The error is actually raised and about the same size and shape of the "I" in Liberty. The packet the coin x2 is in has never been opened. The other doesn't have this error. Can't see the reverse without opening the packet.

"The packet"? What packet? I'm confused. Can we please see the left edge of this coin?
See? THIS is what happens when questions aren't clearly asked and you make us keep guessing as to the issue.

Where is this "error"? I'm I to be looking at the lower part of the bust, the field below IN or the leg of the 9? Please in the future state where you think an error might be...

Is it the floating Tylenol capsule left of the bust base?

I am kind of confused as well. In a couple of the responses there are references to a "straight clip". However in the post as it appears on my computer there is no mention by the original poster "Blind Squirrel" about him thinking it may be a straight clip error. Do we not see all of someones posts? Or is it just an issue on my end? Following the posts: Original shows a mostly whole 1985 Lincoln Penny, with Blind Squirrel having a 'suspension' about something that is not clear. 1st reply, by Spence "rather than a straight clip", inferring that type of error had already been mentioned. 2nd reply, by merclover also refers to the "straight clip". I agree that the original post was vague and leaves us guessing as to what possible error he/she was asking about. Better pics and a much better explanation of the issue would be needed in order for it to be fairly commented on. But again where was the first mention of a "straight clip"

Yes, I agree, there is confusion all around, all stemming back to the original post not being clear. I think Spence and I were seeing the upper left part of the coin as missing (therefore mention of a clip). Clear, concise questions of concerns help us, otherwise everyone is guessing, which helps no one.

What we are thinking is a "straight clip" is actually part of the packaging material covering the coin. And the "suspension" should be "suspicion"

Quote: I think Spence and I were seeing the upper left part of the coin as missing (therefore mention of a clip). Clear, concise questions of concerns help us, Yes exactly, although now that I look more closely, it does appear that the whole coin is there, but the left edge is partly covered by mostly opaque paper. Sorry about jumping to that conclusion and misleading everyone. I think that I may have identified the actual region of interest for squirrel's coin. See the raised area below LIBERTY marked by my red arrow.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the confusion in my question. There's a good reason I use Blind Squirrel and this is a perfect example. Spence, you are on the money with your arrow. The packet was a Reader's Digest mailer from 1985, which has never been opened. Thought I saw an error, that in reality, actually isn't there. Thanks for the welcome, off to get a microscope and new glasses. P.S. dyslexia sucks.
