Very nice finds! I've been looking at these two coins for quite awhile and wondering which is the earlier die stage. What do you think? I feel that the later coin, as far as the order of your pics go, is the earlier die.

Really? I think my my order is spot on. Bc the finger kept spreading the heavy grease on the Planchet and it kept accumulating. And got worse.

Or is it the opposite for field restricted strike thrus? Your saying
At first there is a bunch of grease then the finger feeder is scraping against the planchet and getting rid of the grease into the later stages?
Never thought about this till now great question I think though how my pics are set up is from Eds to lds

on the top (first) picture, notice that the damage is only on the field on both sides oh the head. (with a tiny exception on the neck) That loos like Feeder Finger Damage and some grease. I wonder if the feeder fingers were damaged and were getting more and more damaged, and some grease was applied in attempt to 'smooth' things out but just made it worse.

Outstanding example. Congrats.

IMHO, I agree with this scenario. (If correct, your first images show the latter stage)

The grease is thicker and, therefore, deeper on the coin when first "applied". As the pressure from the dies and the feeder finger work their magic, the grease is spread around the dies and the pockets get shallower. Notice the grease has also moved to the field near the chin in your first image. It's not visible at the chin area in the second pair of images.

I would agree I really respect your knowledge. That makes sense.
But in my second pic there's a strike thru in the M in America. Wouldn't that still be there in the laterr stage or bc the finger feeder is dragging it'll take grease away and strike thru in that area bc the grease is gone.

Hmmm, good point but I'm not sure if a strike-through always affects the dies permanently. Struck Through Grease can be fleeting and non-permanent.

I wonder if that anomaly at the M of AMERICA is a planchet flaw if not struck through (grease?), since it doesn't look like the bottom left corner of the E is affected.

Wouldn't a strikethrough have done something to that part of the E?

The E is affected slightly the pics don't make it look like that. In hand it's very slight.
