Peace dollars often achieve unpleasant toning. This one appears unusually good.

It is nice toning, and after another look, I'd say it was natural - there is an area at K4 where another dollar coin was resting on it as the rest of the exposed are toned out.

Since a typical NGC-graded MS-64 1922 Peace dollar is worth around $70, that's quite a premium for the toning!

GC is still my go to auction but bidding has started to get out of control as of late.

I imagine there might by a VAM that people are seeing warranting the bids - can't see toning alone driving the price so high.
