Scooby, that sux! I see most sets seem to be close to spot on ebay. I get scared of the 'blast white' look of some of the sets. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWAX:ITIs there any chance a nice BU set is worth more then melt? The one I pictured in the OP seems to have some age to it and looks like it was housed in the folder for some time. Would that even matter

i have been building a BU/MS set and have been buying each coin individually for an avg of $3. so, $3x60 coins = $150.. personally, I wouldnt offer more than $175, $200 seems excessive to me since all of these are still fairly common and still about melt. if you inspect each coin thoroughly, you may find some MS+65 but doubtful.

I agree with SDcoinguy .. in the $175 range. I have seen them priced at coin shows in that range

Since this is in a cardboard type material, You might want to ask to see the reverses of the coins. The old cardboard ones ruined my coins even though I thought they were safely stored. Somehow there must have been some residual moisture in some of them when they were wrapped in plastic and stored away. I ended up with coins with no luster on the REV

Quote: You might want to ask to see the reverses of the coins. The old cardboard ones ruined my coins even though I thought they were safely stored. This is good advice. I bought a nearly complete set of circulated mercs awhile back in an old set of Dansco folders and while the obverses weren't terrible, the reverses were completely black. Of course I bought them under melt when melt was a third of what it is now so I can't complain :)

I still stand by the $175 ..
FYI ...only 48 of the coins are silver.
I would not pay $3 for each of the other 12.

I would focus on the few keys and price them out. Then add melt for the rest and a buck or so for the clads.

Thanks everyone! I blew it and missed the action close. My son's christening was yesterday and it didn't cross my mind at all. It went for $175.00. I guess I'll have to wait for the next one.

I have been putting together a BU Roosevelt set too. I am trying to fill a Dansco #8125 (w/ Proofs) and have been picking up a few at a time. Getting them (silver BUs, at least) all at once probably seems to be the best economical way to do it.

Others had commented on the coins, only jbuck mentioned about the album. Yes it's in a still very good shape Library of Coins album. The album itself is "collectible"..... about 2 yrs ago, I sold one of the LoC album for about $10 shipped (I think).
