Old 1995 copy of the Charlton Catalogue which I had not seen before. I now own the cover coin. It is an 1881-H specimen cent, Obverse C1A over C1 cent, and is probably unique (the other 1881-H specimens are Obverse 1A). I have never seen another Obverse C1A over C1 in specimen, and I have looked. Published on page 84 of Past & Nearly Perfect.

Now in a PCGS SP-65+ RB holder. I don't know who owned it in 1995, but it passed through the Cornerstone Collection to me.

Wow, it's strange how many loose ends end up being tied together. Congrats Rob! That really is a coincidence. I had most of the 90's Charlton, but never paid any attention to the covers.

It was such a shot in the dark, maybe you should write a book on them! ...... hmmmmm

What a nice find! Are there any photo credits in the book? Might give a clue to who owned it back then.

No photo credit. It might have been in the Cornerstone Collection in 1995. They took decades building it.

It was part of a full set of 1881-H specimens (1 cent thru 50 cents) they assembled. I was fortunate that the dealer who purchased the set sold me the one cent at the 2019 RCNA in Calgary.

Thanks. The book was a labor of love and fun to write. Plus, I got to examine some astounding coins.
