I just won this coin in an auction and I'm pretty pleased with it. Would anyone like to grade it? It is in a TPG slab.

Just guessing; MS-64 star.
I really like this one. I would like it even more in my type set!

From the photos, which leave much to be desired since they are of a coin under plastic, I see no solid evidence of even the slightest rub on the traditional "high spots" for this design...breast, thigh, shield. Rims are in shadows so it is hard to tell if there are any dents, dings, etc. So...with what evidence is available, I'd say the coin could grade in the MS 63 range; maybe higher. In hand, that grade could jump or drop significantly.

Thanks for the comments, folks! I apologize for the photos; Hunter has it exactly right that shooting through slabs is a problem. My shots just can't capture the strong cartwheel luster and the lovely original toning, especially on the reverse. The coin is in an old NGC slab; I do think it might be star material. This coin is loaded with cool features. It seems to be fully struck just about everywhere and has few visible contact marks. The second 7 in the date looks repunched at the bottom. Both sides show small die cracks and strong clash marks. There is a distinct letter E visible above the drapery at Liberty's left elbow; this is a clash from the E in DIME on the reverse. Under the microscope both reverse E's (in ONE and DIME) appear to be doubled. I will try to get close-up photos of these areas and post them. Oh yeah, did I mention it's from Carson City?

Jaobler,
Beautiful coin and, in my opinion, absolutely worth a star. I am jealous!

After several attempts to image the E clash on the obverse, this was about the best I could do. I would like to capture the image of just the E in DIME from the reverse and then superimpose that on the obverse to clearly indicate the size and location of the clash. Unfortunately, I don't know the trick. All I can do is draw a circle around the area and ask the reader to use their imagination. I wonder if anyone else has seen this clash on other Seated dimes? I would expect it could happen for just about any date or mint in the series.

Only two things I don't like about this dime: #1 The red spot on the obverse, it just jumps out at me. #2 I'ts not in MY collection! Great coin, especialy since it's a CC, and those mirror fields......WOW! In the first pic of the obverse, and especialy the reverse, I think I can see you taking the picture!
