Thanks Mike and Susan shatsi, she's raw, I bought her from a dealer here in town. He graded her vf. He's old school, and usually grades on the low side. I'll show you guys what else I bought from him for my Dansco A one of a kind! I love the weird stuff.... Someone cut two 1811's apart, then resoldered them back together with what looks like copper. She's ugly as sin, but I couldn't help myself.

There is a small rim ding at 1.00 0'Clock, otherwise it is a nice coin, got it very cheap too....

I haven't receive it yet but it was picked by ND so I'm sure it'll look even better in hand. Image: 1866-Shield-Nickel.jpg55.55 KB

Just picked this one up last night for my Seated dime collection. 1845-O dimes are tough in VF and above -- particularly original and problem-free -- and become very scarce (and expensive!) in grades above VF. This VF will fit in nicely:

Thanks! My fledgling Seated dime set is mostly VF/XF, and some of these coins -- particularly the early branch mint stuff -- are very hard to find (and very expensive) in XF and above. For these coins I have to try to find VFs with superior eye appeal for the grade. The '45-O is one of them. It's rare in AU and almost unknown in mint state (maybe a half dozen are known in MS, if that). VFs are affordable, but finding a VF '45-O that's not damaged, harshly cleaned or otherwise compromised isn't easy. I like the look of this one better than many of the XFs I've seen offered for three times the price. And to pick it up at a little below typical VF trends price is a very good pickup, I think, given how hard it is to find 'em this nice and problem-free for the grade. This is my Christmas present to myself.

Ziggy, you know I admire your eye for coins. At various points, I've seen quite a few of your slider and circulated coins and I've liked most of them better than UNC examples. Your 45-O is one of the nicest I've seen. Merry Christmas to you!

Not Special but it was a gift witch makes it more precious than its material. Sorry about the poor pictures . London Mint I think.

What do you mean, not special? All coins are special! I really like the dragonslayer design. Is this a sovereign coin?

Yep its a Sovereign and one that has seem a fair amount of Circulation too. I think it would have been nice to have been around when gold coins actually circulated..
