I get an email newsletter from About.com, there is an "About Coins " section. When I saw the picture of this Wheat cent, I was amazed ! I have NEVER seen this much detail on a Lincoln. It is a 1919 -P Wheat, graded MS-69 Red, and the finest known Wheat Cent- of any date. You can almost see hair strands in his beard....You have to see it for your self. There is no reverse picture there yet, bookmark it and check back. Truly an spectacular coin IMO. Lincoln Lovers...get a towel ready for the drool.... http://coins.about.com/od/uscoins/l...ent.htm?nl=1 Found this while surfing...What everyone has been waiting for..and high res pics too ! http://www.coingallery.org/BlayLinc...1919one.html While were at it...Here's a link to the "Golden Princess" and more info on one of the finest copper collections known http://coins.about.com/b/2008/06/30...llection.htmEdited by InfiniteInterest 07/04/2008 1:55 pm

I have been finding about one beautiful red wheat per box lately. Someone must be cashing in collections at the bank or something.

Wow...that's very nice, even by 1918-19 standards, which were pretty good. I've never seen detail like that in Lincoln's beard.

I would have said it was done with photo shop if it did not have a follow up story to go with it, pure beauty.

If that coin was mind I would send it back to PCGS to try to get it upgraded to MS70. -PP

I'm surprised it made 69. There are two prominent marks under the RT of LIBERTY, under IN, between WE and T, and dings in the E and T. There also appears to be a mark under the date. I don't know enough about the series to comment on the shoulder, but it bears looking. And that's just the obverse. Would I own it? Um, yeah. The "look" is flawless and the strike is astounding, probably good enough to allow a little leeway in grading. MS70? Not a chance. I've just been looking at 68's on Heritage that I liked better.

Dave, I didn't notice your marks at first glance, however my eye immediately went to the shoulder. I don't think those little ticks are on the slab. That's a nice MS68 perhaps...not a 69.

Wow! That truly is a beauty! I would like to see the reverse though, as that is what sets it apart from the pennies of today (besides the date, of course).

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought MS-69 was pushing it a bit.

That's a stunning cent, but I don't think it's a 69 either, it has too many marks for what I would consider an 69 coin. Maybe the reverse is flawless so that might explain it?
