Hi All,

I have been going through some of the pennies I have in my collection, and at some time or another I purchased a mix already in 2x2's. A past owner has labelled some of the later dates (ie 42,43 & 44) as K.G's. I am baffled why he or she would label these dates, but before I break them out of the 2x2's to take a better look, is there such a thing as K.G mint mark associated with these years? Or could the collector have been referring to something else? Please let me know your thoughts, comments welcome.

K. G. are the designer's initials-George Kruger-Gray.

He designed quite a few coins of the commonwealth.

They might be die chips were the . would normally be.
I'm not sure but I think the . may have been applied by hand so once the . moved it wouldn't have continued to be placed in the old spot.

This is the best I can do for the moment...I could take it out of the 2x2, but I don't know that it would help. I can see a very faint G, which is observable under magnification, but I can't see anything else.

It's probably someone who doesn't know the significance of K.G and is using his/her spelling skills to put a punctuation mark after the letters.
